This was my last quilt of the year, finished just before Christmas and it is a custom. It was made by a client who does beautiful piecing. The pattern is by Laundry Basket Quilts and is called Alaskan Holiday. It turned out lovely and it has already been sent out to her. Thank you for a wonderful quilting experience!

On Thanksgiving weekend I start getting my Christmas quilts out and ready to put up. The quilt in the front is a really simple Rail Fence quilt and I have always loved the fabrics. I appliqued a wreath and put some beads in the center. Such a simple quilt but it has always been one of my favorites.

I try to change out the quilts for each season of the year. I have a number of Fall/Halloween quilts and love all of them. Some were made a long time ago and some more recently. All of the quilts hanging in the studio are mine and no matter when they were made, they are special to me.

It has been awhile since I have posted. Several years of very busy quilting work. I am finally finding a little time between Christmas and New Year to catch up on a few things, including posting some photos. Fall is a favorite time of the year. This quilt was made many years ago, just simple quilting, but one of my favorites and it always makes the studio feel rich with fall colors.

One of my very favorite winter quilts. I loved all the fabrics, especially the backing fabric with the trees, looks just like it does out my window right now. It is called Black and White Christmas. I made it many years ago and still enjoy it every winter, especially this time of the year.

It has snowed! I have the studio to myself which means that with a week off I can work on one of my own projects. I am making two more Gustav Klimt's, I sold my other ones and the fabrics are so beautiful that I really miss them. I was lucky to still find all the same fabrics that I used in the first set.
It is a short commute to the studio, but will need to shovel snow first.
I love the little panel that I have hanging by the entry door. I used a double batting and a very fine 100 wt thread. That really gives it a lot of texture without a bunch of thread showing. Just right for today with snow outside. Enjoy your snow days!!!!

It's Christmas season at the studio. It has been a crazy time since the season started back in September. I am finishing up the last of the Christmas quilts that need to get out by the 23rd. It is gray outside but lots of lights, quilts and Christmas spirit surrounds the studio in all nooks and corners. Thank you! to everyone that has left their quilts with me and for letting me be a part of your lives in a small way. Every quilt is a labor of love. My two Gammill girls, Ursula and Agnes, have worked hard all year but enjoyed every moment of it! The quilt starts with the pattern, picking the fabric, piecing the quilt and then finally to the longarm work. I have enjoyed being a part of your families, your lives, your wonderful gifts of a quilt to others. As we get older each day is precious. I spend my days with quilts, fabric, thread, design, color and the need to combine them all into a small work of art. Thank you for sharing your quilt with me. Angela

The Gustav Klimt's that I have shown earlier and are two of my favorites have found a new home. They went on either side of this fireplace and could not have found a more perfect spot. Absolutely perfect there! Congratulations to Julia and Brian for making a great artistic expression of these two pieces of art. Elegant yet simplistic. A lovely addition to their new home!

Great news at Starfish!! We have upgraded Ursula to a Statler Stitcher this last week. That gives us twice the possibilities for a shorter turnaround time and a chance for some much needed days off after a seven day a week schedule for over 16 months since COVID began. Ursula, my hand driven machine, was ready to make the change and our great Gammill reps Jim and Lynda were here for two days to make it happen. I am so excited about this, have already completed several quilts on Ursula, and feel confident to be able to offer 2-3 week turnaround on quilts coming in the door. The transformation was complete, only the table and the naked machine head remained all else was new and shiny: New motor, tracks and wheels, lighting system, computer with monitor and keyboard and the essential controller unit that makes the Statler what it is. I am very excited!!
The studio is open again for visitors, drop offs, pick ups and I will be happy to see all of you!. Set up a time to stop by, lets talk quilting again and lay out your latest piece of art on the big table. I have so missed this!! Will be happy to see you all.
A very excited and happy Angela!!!!!

Wow, lots of snow! We have about 10 inches as of yesterday. snowing again now. It will take awhile for this to melt. It will be end of the week before I can take in any quilts or have any pick ups. Make sure you call first.
I spent Saturday finishing up this little quilt. It is for the spring to hang inside the greenhouse. I made it from leftovers that I had from "Blushing Peonies", a fabric that I have already made two small quilts from. Using these leftovers as a "blended" quilt. Since it will fade out when the sun hits it, I won't mind that so much since all of these scraps would have just landed in my scrap drawer, never to be seen again. Just cut into 2.5" squares and used the leftover backing to finish it off. It brightened my otherwise very gray day! I think I will make a few more as time permits, quick, fresh and sunny, no extra expense. Hope you are all enjoying your snow days!!

I have not posted in a long while! Just put away the Christmas quilts and decorations and I am ready for Spring. Hung up my spring and summer quilts, most of these I made years ago and are favorites of mine. Spring cannot get here fast enough for me. The garden is waiting, today was a lovely non-rain day, and I am in the mood for renewal. Cannot wait for the studio to re-open again, have people in to visit, and be done with COVID. But that may still be a while, masks are still required and we are still meeting on the porch outside. But there is hope on the horizon and I will embrace it!
