I’ve been so quiet on social media for my business lately, and there’s a reason.
I’ve been busy working on made to order - orders, but dealing with something behind the scenes.
My hands started hurting about 6 or 7 weeks ago. I thought it was from drawing too much on top of sewing, but the pain started getting worse.
It was to the point where I couldn’t move my hands. I’d fight through the pain to get my work done until I could be seen by a hand surgeon.
Thinking it was most likely carpal tunnel, they gave me some shots in my nerves and that helped for about a week until my nerve exams.
All looked normal, but my bloodwork is all over the place. So, it isn’t carpal tunnel, but we don’t know what it is yet.
It could be that a virus attacked the joints in my hands, or it could be a slew of autoimmune disorders.
We just don’t know yet.
Right now I’m on treatments and there is no pain, so I’m working my full time hours.
But I’m nervous about the future. I’ve worked so hard to build a business and a dream job that I love and I may be forced to cut back or cut it out all together.
The unknown is scary, but I’m hoping for my tests next week to come back normal and maybe this was just a fluke virus that I had no idea I had.
Either way, I’m so grateful for this business and community no matter what. I can still enjoy my dolls even if I can’t sew. But I hope that’s not the case. I seriously love what I do. I can’t imagine not doing it.
