Today is Hawk’s birthday 🎉 and it’s Farmers Market day over at The Kester Homestead from 4:30-7:30! Come celebrate with us as Hawk turns 9!!! Byblos Food Truck (Byblos Street Grill) and Happy Camper Lemonade Truck (Happy Camper - Lattes & Lemonade) will be slinging food along with lots of old and new vendors!
At bedtime we shared Hawk’s birth story. For many years we vended at Firefly Music Festival, and in 2017 Blaine convinced me to stay back (just two weeks until baby was due) while the crew worked the show. He traveled to Delaware - and on Friday evening my water broke, in my parent’s hot tub 😳! Blaine didn’t hear my call as he was working solo in the booth while the rest of the team was watching weezer — Leah answered my call and they all epically raced through the festival grounds to share the news that baby was on the way! Blaine and his sister hitched up the Airstream and drove through the night while the rest of the team finished the festival, coordinated renting a truck and packed up at the end of the weekend. It was the most epic village of our friends coming together to help and we are forever grateful (Leah, Sid, Brett, Brendan, Paul & Molly)! After a long labor and a few days in the hospital we finally came home to The Kester Homestead - the mulberry tree was bursting with berries, the quiet weeks after months of hard work making the house ready for baby, was just what we needed. That precious transition time into parenthood. Hawk’s been there for it all - the birth of baby and the homestead collide. He helped us open the shop. He worked long days at festivals and lay in a bassinet as I worked on wedding flowers. He’s the most creative, sensitive, imaginative, thoughtful and curious soul I know. He’s taught me the most about myself - and we forever grateful for him. Happy birthday to our sweet Hawk - your light is so bright✨We love you to the moon!
