Merry Christmas. 🎄

This photo was taken on Christmas Day, 2016.

That year, our Christmas tree was made of cardboard — cut from one of the very moving boxes we were using to pack up our lives. I remember thinking it would have been easier to go buy a tree… and also smiling at how inventive we were being in the moment using what we had at hand.

Life was changing then.
Not falling apart — just shifting in ways we didn’t expect. It wasn’t the end — it was the first quiet step toward rebuilding.

And still, there was joy.

Not the polished kind.
Not the picture-perfect kind or the kind money affords.
But the real kind — found in laughter, togetherness, and making something meaningful with what we already had.

That season taught me something I still carry:

Circumstances don’t get to decide our happiness.

Joy is something we create from the inside out.

So if this holiday finds you in a season of simplicity, transition, or quiet — if your traditions look different this year — please know this:

You don’t need everything to be perfect to feel grateful.

You don’t need more than what’s in front of you to find light.

And joy is still available — even here.

This is what 7 hours of my time gets me. These pieces are incredibly time consuming but when they're finally completed, I always feel as if it's time well spent. By the way, this is one of 3 of these Neckpieces I've needed to make within a 2 week time period. I'm so grateful that I get to do this every day but I'll be happy too when I'm finally done 😁😂
