Our brand Tayma Martins is now Tayma Of The Prairie. This name change is inspired by the indigenous practice of women identifying themselves with the land they come from.

As a little girl, I lived in California’s Central Valley, a haven of farmland that supplies 8% of America’s agriculture. In Madera, I grew up walking with my brothers down long country lanes past sprawling meadows. My family owned a 4-acre ranch where we had goats, bunnies, ducks, and a Dalmatian puppy. We had 96 fruit trees of lemons, apricots, peaches, pomegranates, grapefruit, and too many more to name. A watermelon patch too! My best friend Summer lived down the road with two horses and three sisters. Our school was right across the street from our ranch.

My name Tayma comes from my father, Olympio Martins. Born in West Africa, the name he chose for me means “queen” in his native language.

In January of this year, my father left this earth plane and went to heaven. This name change honors his vision for me, forever the apple of his eye.

The vision of a woman so loved, my brand name means Queen of the Prairie. Over the past four years, I found myself again through my work with horses and sheep in the Northern California countryside, reminiscent of the prairies of my childhood. I hope my brand inspires people everywhere to seek out the beauty and healing of nature.

Every time you wear one of my dresses, just know that you become Tayma Of The Prairie. ♡
