Screen Printing/Apparel/Design Grassroots Apparel is a small screen print and apparel company based in the Dayton, Ohio area. We hope you enjoy our shop!

Founded in 2011 by a graphic-designer turned full time screen-printer, we offer a variety of original designs/prints and occasional client projects. Since we do everything from designing to printing in-house, we are always working on new projects. Being a full time screen printer during the week, allows us the time and equipment to experiment with different materials and printing methods, which ul

As of October 26th Grassroots Apparel will be taking a hiatus as I venture down the road towards other life goals. The idea of Grassroots came about on January 29th 2011 as a dream to learn the art of screen printing and bring my ideas to life, with the help and support of Shannon Thomas, Jessica and Mitch Baker and anyone else who has been involved with Four Ambition that dream became a reality. The decision to move on after 7 years was not easy, but it is time. Thank you to everyone who supported me by letting me print your shirts or purchasing one of mine, especially in the early days as I drove around from city to city dropping them off in my little Honda. While I am not closing the doors for good, things will definitely be on the back burner and I hope to release things here and there with future projects. Thank you for all of your support - Travis.

“Montana 200” • My mother’s side of the family are all born and raised on the prairies of eastern Montana. Although I was raised in Ohio, I spend time every year visiting family out west and the Big Sky state has always felt like a second home. I’m fascinated by the history in the farms and abandoned houses/buildings that have managed to survive the climate and are dotting the vast open fields. In 2010 I was driving along Highway 200 with my mother, we stopped at an abandoned school house in Enid, MT and I took a series of photos. This is one of those photos taken inside a classroom, the ceiling was collapsing and the floor boards were rotting under my feet. Pictures like this are a great time stamp of an exact moment during the decaying process, especially now that we are 8 years removed. The town itself was named after the daughter of Lossie and Lavina Dawes, early settlers and the first post master of Enid in 1898. Thanks to the Homestead Act of 1862, it was a boom town with the arrival of homesteaders and the Northern Pacific Railway’s line from Sidney to Circle, Montana. Today the old school house is about all that remains of Enid and chances are you would drive right past it and not even notice.

This month is our 7 year anniversary, and that is the first screen I ever made. I can't thank everyone enough for purchasing one of my shirts or working with me to print yours. Building this small business from the ground up with a very tight-knit community of like-minded people, was the goal and meaning behind Grassroots.
