If you’ve ever pulled one of your leather notebooks off the shelf and thought, “Oh no. Is that mold?” Don’t panic.

Most of the time, what you’re seeing is wax bloom.

Wax bloom happens when the waxes and oils in the leather work their way to the surface, especially when the leather has been sitting for a while or gets cold. It can leave this white, dusty-looking residue that looks a whole lot like mold.

Actual mold needs the right conditions to grow. Moisture, humidity, and low airflow are usually involved.

The good news is wax bloom is really easy to deal with.

Watch what happens when I work this leather back up. The difference at the end is pretty satisfying.

This is our 10 Pen Case. It also has a pocket for those random slips of paper or perhaps a ruler.

We had fun making this bright version, the customer requested bright and wanted two-tone. And provided some color combos she was interested in. We hope she loves it!

Let normalize using our precious things.

It wasn’t until I put a pretty cover made from Emma leather on this old Miquelruis notebook I had that I started using it everyday.

My next one will be made entirely by me, from beautiful Fabriano paper, every signature hand folded, hand stitched and leather bound. I’m looking forward to starting it.

I think it’s important to use your things fearlessly! Be excited that you own something special and you get to use it whenever you want to. And as you do it grows more lovely and more beautiful and tells your story along with its own.

👀 This is a Wabi Sabi B6 Slim with my Kindle. I’ve heard of people doing this and thought I’d try it out for anyone interested in whether it fits.

It does, and I really like it.

If you want a little more room, go for the B6. Also, if your Kindle doesn’t have a case, I think it would slip into the Number 10 pocket pretty well.

A little tea bag philosophy for this fine Thursday.

I’ve come to the conclusion that my mood is entirely dependent on how I think about what happens to me. Not so much what actually happens.

I have several typewriters. I love that you can type on almost anything and stick it in your journal. You could make a journal of nothing but typed bits of paper.

If you want to journal but don’t like your hand writing, give it a try.

My Journal is one I bound myself. I do sell these on occasion. I have 5 or 6 coming in the next few weeks.

I have mixed feelings about this quote. I could see it being both positive and negative. in her books, she deals with a lot of pain and hard truths. So this quote probably isn’t be happy and ignore the bad stuff. It’s more like, choose what you face, but don’t pretend pain isn’t real. The dark is there, you’re just not led by it.

What are your thoughts?
