This is the final result of a full transformation.

The gown came in plain. We built lace sleeves from scratch, added illusion tulle across the back so the buttons had something to hold onto, and raised the neckline in front.

No dress here gets a template. Each one gets its own plan.

She bought it plain and wanted more of herself covered. So we built it in — illusion tulle across the back to carry the button line, lace worked into the edges, and the same treatment in the front until you can’t tell where the original ends.

It wasn’t. The list kept growing, and she came close to buying a different dress altogether.

We went through it item by item. Same gown, back in her hands on time.

Some brides come in knowing exactly what they want. Most come in with a dress and no idea where to start and that’s the more common one, so we built the process around it.
We lay the options out next to your gown. Corded lace if the bodice can carry structure. Tulle if it’s already covered and doesn’t need weight. Organza petals or beaded florals if the dress is simple enough to hold dimension. Plain satin when the gown is doing enough on its own and the sleeve should just follow it.

Then we tell you which one we’d choose, and why. You decide from there.

All detachable — covered for the ceremony, bare for the reception, or the reverse.

Send us a photo of your gown and we’ll tell you which of these it’s asking for.

Adding lace to a gown is not decoration. It’s structural.

The lace has to follow the grain of the fabric underneath, not sit on top of it. Placement gets decided by how the dress moves, not by where there’s empty space. And weight matters more than most people expect — enough lace in the wrong place changes how a skirt falls the second she walks.
That’s the difference between a gown that looks redesigned and one that looks altered.

Most brides come in ready to tell us what they want changed. We usually ask five things first.

It surprises some of them. But a wedding dress doesn’t come with instructions, and once fabric is cut, that decision is permanent. We’d rather spend ten minutes asking than find out halfway through that the gown has already been opened up by someone else.
The answers change everything: the order the work happens in, how many fittings you’ll need, what’s actually possible.

A mermaid silhouette with a full train is one of the hardest shapes to get right, because it has to do two opposite things: hold the body close through the hip, then release enough to let her climb stairs, sit through dinner, and turn on a dance floor without a second thought.
Most of that gets decided in the fitting room, weeks before anyone sees the dress.

Can a 57-year-old wedding dress be restyled? Yes, and here’s exactly how. 💗

This Alfred Angelo gown was worn in 1966 and again in 1994, when the bride’s mother restyled it. In 2023 the granddaughter brought us her own sketch and we built it exactly as drawn.

What stayed: the neckline. The lace at the base.
What changed: chiffon bishop sleeves, a chiffon overlay that reshaped the silhouette to A-line, and added length.
The original skirt was never cut. It lives inside the overlay.
Heirloom alterations are a different job, there’s no second yard of fabric if something goes wrong. That’s why we plan the whole thing first.

How much of a wedding dress is actually decided at the boutique?

Less than most brides expect. The gown that arrives is built to a size chart, a body that doesn’t exist. Everything after that is here: seams reopened, a hem set to the exact shoe, a back that has to close cleanly in the morning and still close at midnight.

She chose the dress. We handle the part that makes it fit perfectly.
