And what better way to kick off September than this pretty fall porch!

My friend shopped my storage unit and bought this table that I absolutely loved…and then sent me this picture. I LOVE what she did with it! 😍

It makes me so happy seeing one of my favorite finds getting a whole new life on her front porch.

Happy September friends…bring on all the fall things! 🍁

Monday Moment 🤍

Ever pick up an old zinc canning jar lid and wonder why there’s a piece of white glass tucked inside?

That little insert is commonly called a milk-glass liner, and it had a very important job.

When zinc screw-on lids became popular on canning jars in the late 1800s and early 1900s, food could react with the metal. The glass liner created a barrier between the contents of the jar and the zinc lid, helping keep the food from coming into direct contact with the metal.

The lid still needed a rubber sealing ring to create the actual seal — the milk glass wasn’t the gasket. It was there to protect what was inside.

Eventually, newer two-piece metal canning lids made the old zinc lids and glass liners largely obsolete, but plenty of them survived.

And here’s the fun part for us junkers: sometimes you’ll find an old zinc lid without its liner…and sometimes you’ll find one of those little white glass discs all by itself and have absolutely no idea what it once belonged to. 😉

Just another one of those everyday objects that makes a whole lot more sense once you know the story behind it. ❤️ HAPPY MONDAY!

Happy Mail is my favorite kind of mail! 📦❤️ Although I’m pretty sure Lakken loves it even more because every package gets opened like it’s Christmas morning. 😂

A few of my fun finds that showed up this week!

Apparently I’m currently in my owl era because they just keep following me home. 😂🦉

These will be heading to the booth soon, so keep an eye out!

Which one would you have grabbed first?

I love getting to cheer on a friend! ❤️

My sweet friend has opened The Nestling’s Niche , a darling little booth at Main Street Flower Market in Republic — and just LOOK how cute she has it! 😍

She has a fun mix of baby & children’s treasures, vintage finds, toys, handcrafted accessories and lots of those special little things you don’t see everywhere.

She’s also just getting her page going, so if this is your kind of thing, hop over and give them a follow! I know she’d appreciate the love. 🥰

Monday Moment 🤍

Did you know Hamilton Beach has been making small appliances for more than 100 years?

The company got its start in 1910, during a time when electricity was beginning to completely change the American kitchen. Tasks that had always been done by hand — beating eggs, whipping cream and mixing cake batter — could suddenly be done with the flip of a switch.

By the mid-1900s, electric mixers had become a familiar sight in kitchens across America, and many were built so well that they’re still around today.

I always wonder how many birthday cakes, Christmas cookies and Sunday desserts an old mixer like this one has helped make over the years. ❤️

That’s the part of vintage I love most. Sometimes an ordinary household item ends up becoming a little piece of history.
