I made a quilted witch's hat! I selected a butterfly print with metallic gold thread, and the interior print is orange with gold metallic thread. I happen to have gold metallic thread and used that to quilt the outer fabric and then topstitch the finished piece. I can't express how happy I am with this 😊🧑 I am going to make a coordinating cape and then sell them as a set for a halloween costume. Im really having fun with this one 😊🧑

Completed items from the fun prints chosen for a friend. I made a zipper pouch, 2-pocket phone wallet (also holds sunglasses), and two bookmarks which double as drink coasters.

Sunday's sewing project, love these two prints together. This is a challenge project, one of six Get It Done projects I chose for 2026. Excited to see the end result on this one. Hint: Halloween costume πŸ˜ƒ

Current project: bought these specifically for a gift for a friend and excited to see how they turn out :-)

As sewists often say, sewing is the first hobby, buying fabric is the second. Boy are they right about that! I love visiting shops and perusing pretty prints anywhere I go, and I'm always looking for prints that will work with aprons, dresses, and a variety of bags. I rarely sew for myself, but then I don't get to enjoy those prints, so two weeks ago I set out to make myself a fall collection consisting of a purse (small, just my size), phone wallet and card wallet. I am in love with how they look! I have the most fun making the wallets because they only use one long piece of fabric--I'm fascinated with the process, and have made several of these for gifts. The purse was a new pattern for me, and while I like it, the next one will have more structure and slightly longer handles. I am driven to create pretty and practical things, and I'm so happy I get to enjoy these :-)

Check out my beautiful grand-puppy :-) This pretty girl lives in TN with my daughter, but we are both from St. Louis and will always support our hometown teams. A few weeks ago while making a bandana for her, I discovered that I had just enough Cardinals fabric to make this for her. This was a surprise for my daughter, and she immediately put it on Princess Penny. Now she can represent our favorite baseball team :-)

I'm making something special for myself--any guesses? I'm hoping to do it all tonight. Aren't these prints just stunning? The florals have metallic gold threads running through them, a detail I love so much that I have a pretty good collection of prints with either gold or silver metallic threads 😍

I have the best time matching fabric prints, and finding the thread that will work with them. I forat selected shades of blue before trying shades of green. This one is perfect!

Check it out, I finally finished my daughter's bustier! I started it a year ago and got sidelined with the zipper. First, I put in the wrong kind, a "closed" zipper instead of an "open-ended" or "separating" zipper. Jackets have separating zippers, dresses have close-ended zippers. I also learned how to put in a zipper when there is a lining; this is completely different from sewing a zipper into a tote bag or zipper pouch. Each project = education. In addition to the zipper education, I again learned about selecting the correct fabric. The lining for this is a soft cotton that will definitely be comfortable, but was challenging to work with. I try to use what I have on hand, and this was in my stash. This was also my first time adding boning, and I had a much easier time doing it than I expected. One is a smidge too long and may cut through the fabric over time, but I'm just thrilled she'll be able to wear it at all!

My daughter selected the outer fabric plus two others--this was the easy one because the others have directional prints which require more work for the final piece to look good. I will make them once I've finished the upcoming vendor shows 😊🧑
