💥Great weekend of racing in Springfield, IL! We started it off Friday night with middle school XC! Looking forward to a great season! Saturday we spent the day with Heather Sharpe & John & friends at the Abe’s Amble packet pick-up! Then, we had perfect weather for the 10K & 5K races at the Illinois State Fair!
Zachariah Panek & Gabe Martinez nailed their SRC pace of under 1 hour for the 10K! Congrats to the runners who went along for the ride! Tracy Moore-Dowell got to cheer and play with water guns to cool off the runners, meet Judy the Pancake Lady, and see all of our wonderful friends and customers of SpringfieldRunningCenter Shoes show off their hard training work! Next year Abe’s Amble turns 50! Put it on your calendar!🙌🏻

“You cannot do it alone! There is no substitution for a good crew. From sock changes to soft flask fills to moral support, having a crew of even one person is invaluable. My wife Hayden took so much off my plate during the race that I could just focus on running and consuming. Thank your crew always and often because they do everything except run the miles.”

“Walking and hiking are essential parts of an ultramarathon. In my opinion, unless you are an elite mountain runner, it is not sustainable to run inclines or climbs that push your heart rate into an unsustainable place. Especially if your goal is to hang around late into the race. Practice hiking and walking during long runs with climbs.”
