Hello sewing sisters! our kickoff meeting for the 2026/27 year is on September 19th in our new space in Springvale. The doors open at 10 with a social 1/2 hour to catch up and get settled. The meeting will start at 10:30am. This is our annual planning meeting to set our calendar for the year.
We have a whiteboard in our new space with a spot to add your ideas for projects and the charity that receives it. We have some fabrics we would like to use up this year so please come with ideas particularly for: Flannel and upholstery fabrics.

We will have a show and tell so please bring an item to share even if it's in progress. If you have completed a UFO (started before 1/1/26) and bring it to a meeting for show and tell you will get entered into a drawing to be held in December.

We will have a potluck for the first meeting so please bring something to share. We do have folks that are gluten free, so if you make a dish that is gluten free please mark it. Your also welcome to bring your own lunch if you have any dietary restrictions.

Annual member dues will be collected at the September meeting so if you cannot attend please make arrangements to get your dues to Kathy L. prior to the meeting as we have to submit the paperwork in September. You have the option of dropping off dues at Friday night sew (5-8pm) if you cannot make the meeting.

The September meeting we will work on pillowcases, burp cloths, chair pad covers, chair back pockets, and any other unfinished projects we have ready to sew. If you would like to make a cushion for your chair, please bring a piece of foam and we can cover them. You may want something that helps boost the height of the chairs.
See you all soon!

Each year at Quilts in the Barn we ask visitors to vote for their favorite quilt. The winner gets a gift card to a local quilt shop and this year was presented with a homemade rosette.
The 2026 winner was Sue Dunlap with her quilt honoring America’s 250th Celebration.
Runner up was Renee Masse with her sweet Bird quilt.
3rd place went to Sue Dunlap with her Charley Harper inspired bird quilt.

Such a great day for our Quilt in the Barn/ Vintage Artisan Day at the Taylor/Frey/Leavitt House withe the Waterborough Historical Society. We had lots of visitors and it was nice to hear all the compliments about the quilts.
We had a station set up for folks to try sewing- we will be using them along with signature panels visitors could sign for a special quilt to be shown next year for the 240th Celebration for Waterboro.
The tractors, spinners, bee keepers, slate tiles, blacksmithing and handsome steers made for a fun community rooted event.
Huge thanks to all our members who filled the barn with quilts!
Special thanks to our volunteers whose energy, camaraderie and sweat made the set up to clean up possible. Sue D, Renee M, Linda F, Brenda H,
Mary M, Judy C, and Missy are our superstars!
