Here is an illustration I did for - reimagined as a mural.
After designing almost exclusively for t-shirts for 11 years, I had worn thin watching designs I had worked for hours (digitally) move through the printing process in a matter a minutes and then suddenly I was set off to work on the next thing. Never really getting to linger in the manifestation of that ephemeral becoming physical.
With sign painting and murals I find myself able to get to know the piece with an intimacy that tshirts never allowed.
Seeing an illustration spread across the wall larger than your peripheral vision will even allow certainly has its joy, but it also has its hurdles. Composition of a tshirt design have its boundaries - that I have found and thoroughly tested over the years - but composition for murals certainly has a very different set of strengths and weaknesses that I would love to understand more fully. In addition, I would really like to master how to create those perfect color palettes that catch your eye and keep it, while still complementing their surroundings.
I follow for inspiration on a weekly basis, but I think her workshop would help me in that quest.
