A banner day for weird art at the Goodwill bins. Found this amazing piece of something surreal. I’m not sure what is happening here, but it feels as though my house is now haunted. This painting seems like a scene from The Mask circa 1961. Signed “Eisele” or “Gisele”. It’s quite old. I love it.

Can’t express how good it feels to be able to share my Grandpas carvings with the world via Antiques Roadshow. Out of 20,000 people who attempted to get tickets to the St Louis event it was truly an honor to be one of the few to be chosen to go on camera. My grandfather, R. P. Bringhurst carved these beautiful pieces in the late 1930’s - early 1940’s. I learned from the appraiser that two of the faces (Jimmy Cagney & Bob Hope) may have been carved for a WW2 bond tour that came through St. Louis in 1942. They appraised quite well, but it isn’t about the money at all. It’s about their value in my family history. I have to say, this was definitely one of the most fun and exciting days I’ve had in quite some time!

Liberty Belle “Kills Fascists Dead!”

Completed painting this jacket a few weeks ago.

The concept came from a July 1941 “Gags” magazine pinup cover, which could certainly have served as inspiration for bomber nose art during WW2.

I painted it to represent a B-26 Marauder crewman serving with the 439th Bomb Squadron flying in the Mediterranean Theater circa 1944.

I’m going to keep this jacket so I added my name to the pocket, as guys would often do during WW2.

WW2 Women’s Air Service Pilots WASP’s tribute jacket. Hand painted Fifinella mascot with hand painted Air Transport Command patch and WASP wings. Original WW2 Army Air Forces patch. On a vintage Cooper A-2 aviators jacket. Super happy with how this one turned out!

Airborne Leathers US Navy G-1 flight jacket with custom painted F-8 Crusader tribute art.

I painted this jacket myself. I based it on the poem “One More Roll” by Captain Gerald L. Coffey USN (Ret). Written during his time as a POW in Hanoi.

The jacket features all hand painted artwork on back, a 1960’s era, hand painted VF-24 “Fighting Renegades” squadron patch and hand painted Naval aviator’s wings.

Adding clouds to the back of this jacket has made a big difference. It definitely feels finished now. Anyone who does art knows that the feel is as important as the look. Everyone who looked at this jacket in the shop last week said “looks great”. When I looked at it, I said “I feel like something is missing”. The clouds filled in that feeling. Now it’s finished!

Will be listing it online later on today.

Thrilled to have my artwork on this jacket exhibited at the Queensland Air Museum’s “Art In The World Of Aviation” display.

Painting these is fun and profitable. However, nothing gives me more of a good experience than having one work to serve the memory of the guys that flew these planes.

(. . . and gals. I think I’m gonna do one to commemorate the WACS.)
