Pairing Leyland Cypress with Golden Ligustrum and Blue Daze creates a really strong contrast garden — tall structure, bright color, and soft texture all layered together.

Here’s how I’d design it:

🔅Plant the Leylands in the back as your privacy screen or anchor.

▪️Space about 8–10 ft apart if you want a dense hedge eventually
▪️Keep them off fences/buildings so they can mature
▪️Their deep green color creates the perfect dark backdrop

🔅Place Golden Ligustrum in front of the Leylands.

▪️Space about 3–4 ft apart
▪️Let them form a soft flowing hedge
▪️The bright chartreuse/golden foliage pops HARD against the dark green Leylands

🔅Use Blue Daze as the edging or spill-over plant in the front.

▪️Space around 18–24 inches apart
▪️The soft blue flowers cool down all the warm gold tones and add movement

🔅All three can handle heat well, and once established they create a pretty durable landscape for Florida conditions.

Texas sage (scientific name Leucophyllum frutescens), also called Texas ranger or barometer bush, is a hardy, drought-tolerant shrub. Famous for its silvery-gray leaves and bursts of purple flowers that often appear after rain or humidity spikes—hence the nickname “barometer bush."
