Nicky's father, Richard L Smith, AKA "Pop" - who helped us open our Stillwater store in 1999 by painting, wiring, hanging fixtures, tagging, bagging and steaming thousands of items - and then doing the same to get our Enid store off the ground in 2003, has sadly passed from this life, at the age of 89.
Pop volunteered hours of his time and thousands of miles behind the wheel to assist us, providing not only help in the store and making deliveries - but giving us all a distraction from our busy days with his signature humor and occasional ornery behavior - becoming an honorary grandfather to all our staff over the years in the process - and only ever requiring an occasional hot cup of black coffee as payment.
Although much of his work was "behind the scenes" - his larger-than-life personality couldn't stay hidden for long, and he loved being able to assist our loyal patrons however, and whenever he got the chance, even if it meant simply saying "hi" and wishing you a good day.
Our Stillwater location will be closed this Saturday to honor him and lay him to rest - we will be open regular hours the following week, Tues-Sat.
