One Man's Junk

One Man's Junk originally opened in 1985 a few doors down.... before junk was cool!!! My dad owned the building & it was vacant so he thought he would have a "garage sale" for about two weeks to get rid of some of his 'junk'.... and it was so successful that he turned it into a business! Eventually he sold it & a second location in Ames was opened; however, it only lasted a few more years under ne

w ownership. In 2010, my dad had these two buildings open up so he, my sister and I decided it would be fun to open up One Man's Junk again with the 3 of us running it!!! We have filled it with great vintage finds, retro furniture, antiques & junk, and so much more.... there is a little bit of something for everyone! We are loving every minute of it and hope you will stop by & check us out! A little about myself... my name is Jill & I am a mother of 3 boys, ages 24, 21 and 11! Our little surprise & he truly changed my life.... made me slow down, breathe & enjoy life again. Somehow I got wrapped up in every day life that I forgot about the simple things. My husband & I have been married forever & owned an "old-fashioned full-service gasoline station" until we sold it in 2011. That is where I lost myself, I think... I needed to simplify my life so I could enjoy each day! I love this shop and what it has done for me. It may be my true calling besides being a mom! I love vintage & retro... it brings back childhood memories for me. I love junk & turning it into treasures!
