Has anyone every heard the story about a gunshot being fired early in the morning hours toward Howard Shaw himself in the early 1900s?

The story is something of legend around here! The story simply goes that he was shot at as he witnessed armed robbers looting the town hall post office next door! He lived above the store and saw them leaving, yelled and was then shot at!
