The County Commissioners are having a residential document shredding event on Saturday April 2nd from 9:00am - Noon. It will take place in the parking lot of the collection center located at 540 South Abbe Road in Elyria.

So, how do you get something done that you have to do, but that you hate doing (folding laundry, filing, writing thank you notes)? Here are some suggestions: (1) Set a timer for 10 minutes - when it goes off, do something less annoying for 5 minutes, then reset and repeat until it is done! (2) Set a count - do 5 (or 10) of what you need to do, then stop for 10 minutes, and continue with your next group! (3) Break down the task into individual steps, and write them down - do steps 1 and 2, then take a break, follow with steps 3 and 4, etc., and don't forget to check them off as you go! Lesson: if you break it down, it seems easier! 😏

Keep your dorm desk organized! Get an organizer for your middle desk drawer, or customize our own with small gift boxes (see "junk drawer" post, below). Corral those textbooks with bookends.

Do you have a high shelf in your dorm room? Get a folding step stool to reach up there. Keep only rarely-used items up there!

More dorm ideas: use drawer dividers in that tiny dresser to keep everything in its place. Just be sure that you know the depth of the drawer before you buy anything. On a budget? Use shoe boxes or containers from salad greens!

Some ideas for dorm room organization: double your closet space by adding an extra hanging rod in your dorm closet, without breaking the rules! Check out my website, jpkprofessionalorganizing.com, for instructions!
Also, use Command hooks for towels, scarves, and belts. Get storage cube ottomans to store towels and sheets, and provide extra seating for entertaining!

Feeling overwhelmed by clutter? Here is a way to give yourself a start. Choose a room to focus on. Each time you walk into that room, take something out of it and figure out what to do with it: donate it, toss it, or put it where it actually belongs. Before you know it, the clutter will fade away! :)
