He started building hot shoes because his two boys wanted to race flat track at the local track. At the time, he was a young dad with a lot of energy but not a lot of money. So he decided to try building his own hotshoes for the boys. Others at the track found out he was making his own, and asked if he would build them a steel shoe too.
