Monday, I printed the White Rabbit with a watch on my 3d printer. I started the gingerbread man. And since it took hours, I went to Lowes hardware to get some liquid electrical tape for a Xmas project.
Never made it. I got out of my pickup truck and started to cross the driveway into the store. As I was walking out of the asile I parked in. Another pickup turned into the asile and hit me. I could get out from in front of it, so I banged the hood, trying to get the drivers attention. And he hit me again, flipping me up into the air. I landed 9n my forehead, nice road rash and wound up with a broken rib that punctured my lung. I just got home after spending the night in the hospital under the eyes of the Tramau doctors.
Out, I'm feeling very sore and now under orders not to pick up anything over 5 pounds for the next 8 weeks. I am so tired of doctors and hospitals. I had finally thought I was thru. But it could have been worse and as crazy as it sounds. I met some incredibly nice folks working in the hospital. And I think even another outlet for my earrings.
Life is weird sometimes.

I was asked to explain cz's and sintering. CZ stands for cubic zirconium, a man made "stone" that can withstand high temperatures. CZ's can withstand @1500 f, and enamel is melted and fuses. There are other natural stones that can be used at high temps, for example, some types of sapphire. @1300-1400 f. So if one is carefully, you can heat the cz's and the piece to be enameled together. I am going to try it using my stationary torch and my eye to regulate the temperature by sight/color.
Now sintering. Sinter is the process to eliminate the fillers from metal clay. It is also used in 3d printing of metal projects to refine the print and eliminate the fillers. Both 3d printing and metal clay use things other than the finely powdered metal to help form the item. Once the object is formed, it is weak because of the fillers. It is then placed in a kiln or heated with a torch so that the binding materials burn off, leaving just the metal behind.

Sunflower 🌻 in progress. I have always loved Van Gogh's Sunflowers. And thought I'd try my hand in enamel. It is a work in progress. I would like to do a series of both Sunflowers and other flowers, such as Lady Slippers. It has been in progress for a couple of years. One of the largest objects I have attempted to fire by hand with my torch... 🌻
