My Story
My name is Julie, and I live in the Market Common area of Myrtle Beach. I’ve been here almost 7 years, and I am enjoying a lovely retired southern style life. Yoga and jewelry design are my passions, and I am so very fortunate to be able to have both in my life.
My jewelry design business has been a long and winding road. Starting as a teen learning to bead on my jeans (It was the 60’s!), fast forward two kids, work, marriage and just life, to many years later, and remembering the fun I had ‘back in the day’ as they say, creating flowers and peace signs all over my clothes. At this point I had an empty nest, two young men off to conquer their world, leaving mom in the rear view. With time on my hands and an old interest reinvented, I started to experiment with beads. This started in my basement in Connecticut (my home state) where I spent many hours learning and making and unmaking different styles of jewelry. One thing lead to another and I started to wear what I was making to work, which turned out pretty nice. Inadvertently, I was a walking advertisement for myself! As time went on my style found itself, I fine tuned my skills and started selling my designs to my work friends!
Being retired affords me the luxury of time, and I am lucky enough to have my own studio in our home. I am free to create and design as much as I want and it’s just heaven!
As a recycled hippie (you’ll always find my Free Spirit Designs booth at the Hippie Fest in Myrtle Beach!) and a lover of Yoga I tend to like simple, earthy materials, stones, sea glass, driftwood as well as silver, copper, leather, suede, and so much more!
