CLOSED FRIDAY — As many friends of the Brigade know, I’m currently running for Common Councilor at Large in Syracuse. As we move closer to the June 23rd Primary Election, my days are spent knocking doors, connecting with voters:) The campaign requires time away from the store and amazing vintage enthusiasts! I’m deeply grateful for your patience, grace, and continued support!

I’ve learned is that constituent service is much like customer service. Both require deep listening, attention, care, and the ability to meet people where they are. So much of what I hope to bring to public service has been shaped by what I’ve practiced inside shop: building relationships, creating space for challenging conversations, listening to people’s stories, concerns and aspirations!!

This work extends beyond supporting small businesses. It’s about showing up for community, advocating for neighborhoods, investing in quality of life, and helping ensure people feel seen, heard, and valued in the city they call home.Thank you always for supporting the Brigade and for supporting me during this important moment.

CELEBRATE SMALL BUSINESS MONTH | This June will be my third year in business and as the shop anniversary approaches, I’ve been thinking about what it takes for small businesses to launch and grow!

After almost ten years working at Syracuse University, I made a pivot, opening my store, a vintage clothing, bookstore, and community space! Early support came through a Retail Incubator Program, a micro-grant initiative launched by Caeresa Richardson in partnership with CNY Community Foundation. I had the privilege of being selected alongside three dynamic women for this opportunity.

The grant supported the initial build-out of the storefront and, included mentorship, entrepreneurial guidance, and access to resources that helped bridge the gap between idea and sustainability. I'm deeply appreciative of Caeresa's vision in creating an opportunity that paired capital with wraparound support, recognizing that small businesses need more than funding alone to grow. They grow through networks, through shared knowledge, and through systems that open doors!

I’m proud to be a been part of a broader effort to reimagine and activate underutilized parts of our city, transforming overlooked service corridors into places where small businesses are economic drivers, stabilize neighborhoods, create cultural spaces and build community!!

YOU’RE INVITED to our May short story meet-up! American Predators follows a group of Cherokee teens who set out on what begins as a seemingly ordinary hunting trip in the woods. As they move deeper into the wilderness, the atmosphere shifts from familiar to unsettling. They soon realize they are not alone, and what stalks them is far more dangerous than anything they were prepared to face. “American Predators” is both a survival story and a commentary on resilience, identity, and the enduring impact of past and present dangers.
