Al’s surgery went fine and now he has a drain in his neck. He is a little loopy and and snorts while he sleeps. Thank you D.r Claypool and Dr. Jensen at the Button Veterinary Clinic in Tacoma. They are the best.

“Little Miss Lexi would like to share with you one of the sewing tips I have recently learned. Saves you time and aggravation when dealing with very fine, slippery fabrics which so often find their way onto wedding dresses!

I may be late to the party, but this is such a great tip that I learned from Ryliss, I’m sharing anyway. I am super busy with dogs/puppies/boarders right now and am in the countdown for getting THE DRESS done. This tip has been a lifesaver and time-saver!

When working with the very lightweight fabrics like chiffon or, in my case, double georgette, it helps to spray the fabric with a heavy spray starch prior to handling the fabric. Spray it on, LET IT DRY, then come back and handle the fabric as you will. Cut, sew, mock-up, you name it, it will be easier to handle, have a little more body and grip and save loads of time that might have been spent struggling with flimsy fabric. Once done, the starch simply washes out.

Lexi approves of this message and says it allows more time for playing!

P.S. And, who ever can choose just one photo?!?

posts tips # sewingtipsandtricks on Saturdays on her feed.

“What is it? You may ask.
It’s a toile for a waterproof dog coat for Esme, my cockapoo. She hates it, won’t model it, and I think the small size is too small.
Now to cut out a toile for medium. Hopefully there’ll be a poodley modelling it 🤞🏻I have a gorgeous piece of waterproof fabric waiting to be cut out 🥰
Wish me luck.”

“She may be the most fancy greyhound in Melbourne in her pajamas made from ZQ certified merino wool.
I live in self drafted turtlenecks most of winter and have them in many colours. I’d been saving my scraps for a yet-to-be-figured-out project when I realised Deliah may enjoy a turtleneck as much as me… so here we are, two matching ladies enjoying winter.
The fabric is from and the pattern was shared with me by a friend. I’ll make a few adjustments for Delilah’s build next time, mostly around reducing the neck and tapering under the body as she’s tall but quite slender, even for a greyhound. I’m fairly sure those drag lines will be reduced if I fix those two fit issues.
For those who may not be familiar with my big noodle dog, she’s a rescued greyhound. Greyhounds are naturally very thin and because they have such a low amount of body fat they need clothes in cooler weather. This cute outfit has an important purpose besides making her even more adorable.

We saw a lot of vests coming this fall and this is one of many hanging in the upstairs closet. The fabric used is a Minky faux suede Sherpa. Completely washable and comfy. The fabric was purchased at RIP Hancocks in Tacoma, WA.

The lapped seam method was used to highlight the seams with the Sherpa.

I am a button collector and this vest was perfect to showcase these buttons.

Al’s big bone is like a child’s teddy bear. He carries it upstairs to bed every night and back downstairs when he gets up in the morning. He loves his bone and Rosie respects that.
