People are always asking me about homeschooling which I love to answer any questions anyone has. But after 20+ yrs experience this is my personal all time favorite. You just can’t beat this education. It is a so much better education than even a private school can provide. 📘Do classically educated kids read different books than other educational methods? It’s impossible to say yes or no for sure because every homeschooling parent curates their own unique reading list, even when following a specific philosophy.
What we can say is there is a strong foundation in the classics for any classical homeschooler- specifically the Great Books of Western Civilization, with an emphasis on literature, history, and philosophy.
Students read these works so they can discuss culturally relevant philosophical and moral issues found in them. Students with a strong foundation in the key ideas of these works that have shaped Western Civilization ultimately develop a deeper understanding of the human experience and the world in which they live.
👏Through disciplined study, students make sense of their own experiences, learn how to navigate life, and even influence the world in which they live.
