This page is for our store - Through The Years Vintage Market in Downtown Tavares, FL. Tavares is 4 miles from Mount Dora in Lake County, FL. We use our Maine cottage as a place to get away and shop for hard to find antiques to bring back to the store. When Wayne and Alan looked at this Historic House in Foreclosure, we both immediately thought "wow, this house would make a great antique store".
Don't get me wrong, this house needed it's share of work to be done, but it is a neat old house. It has a parlor with a fireplace! The house was last used as commercial office space. Although it was a boarding house in the Great Depression and the Greyhound Bus Depot for the city of Tavares in the 1950's. It is right on Alfred Street which is the Old 441, connecting Mount Dora 4 miles to the East and Leesburg, 6 miles to the West. The house is on the Historic Register for the City of Tavares, Fl. We have taken out all the wall-to-wall carpeting to restore the hardwood floors. There is also a garage we use as work space and above the garage is a "coach home" 1 bedroom apartment also with hardwood floors.
