Is it worth the hassle to create a seating chart?

In short, YES!!

Why? For a million reasons. If you can’t tell, I’m a big fan of the seating chart. Here’s a few reasons why it’s a good idea:

• number 1 reason, in my opinion, is you can efficiently plan for every guest (who RSVPed) and use the least amount of tables as possible so every seat is filled, while saving money on table decor and time setting up
• can be based around family dynamics and avoiding any unnecessary drama
• if you’re having a catered meal, giving the catering staff a seating chart along with meal choices will save on serving time

If you don’t want to do a seating chart, plan for 15-30% more tables to account for about 1-3 empty seats per table.
—— for example: 150 guests with 8 guests per table, you’ll want 19 tables if you do a seating chart.
Without a seating chart, you should plan for 22-25 tables to account for the empty seats.
