A few days ago, my granddaughter texted me and asked for a new pack of cards. And it made my heart so happy.

Every year for Christmas, I give each of my grandkids their own set of cards. But the gift comes with one little promise: unlimited refills all year long.

Because more than giving them paper and envelopes, I want to help them build the habit of noticing people.

When someone crosses their mind. When a friend has a birthday or when someone needs encouragement. When they simply want to say, “I was thinking about you.”

My grandson uses his cards for birthday parties. He writes a handwritten note when he goes to a friend’s party, and I love that so much.

My granddaughters use theirs pretty regularly too, and when they need more I get a text asking for more. I custom design their cards around whatever they are interested in at the time.

Sometimes they want their names on them. Sometimes they don’t. Either way, I’m always happy to make them just how they want them.

I have also sent them Kindness Krewe kits so they can join along in sending cards each month.

Because this has never really been about stationery. It is about teaching them, while they are young, that remembering someone matters.

That kindness does not have to be complicated and that a few handwritten words can make someone feel seen. There is something incredibly special about opening your mailbox and finding a card from a child who took the time to write your name, hold you in their thoughts, and send a little love your way.

My hope is that this feeling stays with them as they grow. That they remember how good it feels to send kindness. And that they carry that habit with them, one card at a time.

If you have children or grandchildren in your life, this is such a simple habit to help them begin. Give them a small stack of cards. Let them choose designs they love. Keep stamps nearby. Remind them that they do not need a big reason to send a note...they only need to think of someone.

This is one small way we can support the cause of keeping handwritten correspondence alive. It doesn't need to be formal or perfect. Just make it familiar and teach them that their words matter. And by showing them that kindness can travel through the mail and land right where it is needed.

👉I have a Downloadable PDF called "Write it with Love" for kids and I love to send it to you...completely FREE. If you're interested, send me an email at [email protected] and I will send it over to you. I would love to get this into as many parents / grandparents hands as possible!

I created Not Loud, But Lasting for the woman who has lived a lot of life, carried a lot quietly, and is still learning how to pay attention to what has shaped her.

It is not loud, flashy, or meant to tell you to live. It's a collection of stories, reflections, and gentle questions meant to help you slow down and notice the moments that made you who you are.

Some stories are tender.

Some are ordinary.

Some are about legacy, courage, grace, and the quiet ways we keep becoming.

And alongside the magazine, I created a guided journal because sometimes reading someone else’s story gives us permission to begin writing our own.

If you have been craving something thoughtful, reflective, and meaningful to sit with, Not Loud, But Lasting is still here.

I think of people all the time.

💟A friend I haven’t checked on.
💟Someone going through a hard season.
💟A birthday I meant to remember.
💟A person who showed up for me in a quiet way.
💟Someone who simply needs to hear, “You matter.”

And like so many of us, I’ll think, I should send them a card.

Then life keeps moving.

That’s why I created:

I read a blog post this morning from Mark Manson called After You Lose Everything, and there was a part of it that made me feel like he was talking directly to me.

He was writing about what happens when life does not go the way we thought it would. When something changes. When something ends. When the version of success we had been holding onto no longer looks the way we imagined.

You can read his post here: https://markmanson.net/breakthrough/217-change

It made me think about my paper shop.

When we moved and I closed the shop in Mississippi, it hurt more than I probably admitted at the time. That little shop held so much of me.

My ideas, hope, and creativity. It was not just a place where I sold paper goods. It was proof that I had built something meaningful.

So when we closed the doors, and moved to online sales and watched our business shrink, I felt like I had failed.

Not just in business. In some quiet place inside of me, I felt like I had failed myself.

But lately, I have started to see my purpose a bit differently.

Something else began to take shape from the pieces. The Kindness Krewe has come from this season. This idea of helping people remember each other on purpose. Helping people send notes, cards, and little reminders that say, “You matter. I thought of you. You are not forgotten.”

And when I look at it that way, I can see that maybe that little paper shop was not the whole story.

Maybe it was the beginning...

I think it has taught me what I cared about most. It wasn't just about selling cards...it was about helping people feel connected.
I was trying to keep handwritten kindness alive. I was trying to create something that made it easier for people to show up for one another in small but meaningful ways.

That does not erase the disappointment. It does not make the hard parts magically feel easy. But it does help me see that sometimes what feels like failure is really a reshaping.

A redirection...if you will.

I may not have been able to keep the shop open in the way I first imagined. But something lasting still came from it. And that's the part I don't want to miss.

Sometimes the thing we lose is not proof that we failed. Sometimes it is the very thing that leads us closer to the work we were meant to do.

👉👉Your program needs a workbook!

If you have ever thought about creating a program, course, workshop, or guided experience, here is something to consider:
What if it became a workbook or journal?

A printed workbook / journal can help your clients move through your process step by step. It gives them space to reflect, write, track progress, answer prompts, and stay connected to what you are teaching long after the class or session is over.

This is one of the things we love helping people create at Be Amazing Paper Company.

We can help with the content flow, layout, design, and printing...whether you are starting with a rough idea, an existing program, or pages of notes that need to become something more organized.

👉PRINT ON DEMAND AVAILABLE

We offer small-batch printing or print-on-demand options so you can start where you are.

Your ideas do not have to stay scattered in notebooks, Google Docs, or Canva files.

They can become something thoughtful, useful, and beautifully printed...something your people can hold in their hands and return to again and again.

Have an idea for a journal or workbook? Send me a message. I’d love to help you think through what it could become.

Hey! I am doing a 30 Days 🗓 of Notes: A Month of Remembering People on Purpose on my Substack account.

There is something powerful about being remembered.

Not in a grand or public way, but in the quiet way someone’s name comes to mind while you are making coffee, driving home, or moving through an ordinary day. You think, I wonder how she is doing, or I should really check on him, and then, too often, the thought passes.

👉That is what these next 30 days are about.

For the next month, I’ll be sharing small reflections on the kinds of notes we can send…notes of encouragement, gratitude, comfort, remembrance, celebration, and simple connection. This is the heart behind The Kindness Krewe, too: the belief that kindness becomes more meaningful when it becomes action.

A handwritten note does not have to be long or perfect. Sometimes it only needs to say, You came to mind today, and I wanted you to know.

So today, begin there. 💟

Think of one person who has been quietly sitting on the edge of your thoughts. Write their name down. Send the note. Let them know they were remembered on purpose.
