SuKaz Fundamentals

There is something deeply moving about watching true artistry unfold by hand.

In this special conversation, Susan sits down with Houston-area quilting artist Sunny Yung to explore the extraordinary techniques behind her textile work for SuKaz. For the past several years, Sunny has contributed her remarkable quilting artistry not only through intricate art panels, but also through the quilting work found throughout many SuKaz jackets.

In this video, Sunny shares her process from painting fabric to the thoughtful layering of stitch techniques and varying thread weights that create texture, movement, and depth within the work itself. Every line, contour, and detail is intentionally guided by hand, transforming fabric into something almost painterly and alive.

It is a beautiful reminder that true craftsmanship cannot be rushed.
It is discovered slowly, through patience, skill, intuition, and the human hand. And this is the very foundation of which SuKaz is built.

Fragments of something new are beginning to emerge.

At SuKaz, every collection begins long before a silhouette is revealed. It begins in texture, in detail, in artistry, and in the quiet process of creation itself.

Layers are gathered. Fabrics are studied. Threads are guided by hand. Inspiration is collected slowly from places, histories, techniques, and stories around the world.

What you are seeing here are only fragments — small glimpses into a new direction taking shape within the SuKaz atelier.

A study in craftsmanship.
A devotion to detail.
A continued exploration of art to be worn.

We are excited to begin sharing pieces of the journey with you and look forward to revealing more in time.

Coming soon.

Every stitch begins with a story.

For the Redemptive Arc collection, artist Sunny Yung hand-guides each quilted vine and chrysanthemum petal with extraordinary care transforming fabric into something deeply alive.

The chrysanthemum has long symbolized resilience, renewal, longevity, and beauty that endures through changing seasons. It feels fitting that this bloom is becoming part of a collection born from restoration and the quiet decision to create again.

What begins in the artist’s hands continues to unfold in Susan’s imagination, one creation inspiring the next, across continents, friendships, and shared vision.

This is the beauty of true collaboration.
Not mass produced. Not rushed.
But thoughtfully made, human hand to human hand.

Redemptive Arc now taking shape.

There is something deeply restorative about the creative process.

Ideas shared. Hands at work. Textures, stories, and artistry coming together once again.

A quiet moment with Susan and Sunny as new pieces begin to take shape for the next chapter of SuKaz.

Collected from the world. Crafted into one.

As each element finds its place, we feel it… a settling, a peace.
Handcrafted textiles, shaped slowly by human hands.
Artisan touches layered with intention.
Cultural stories, carried forward through every thread, every fold, every bloom.

What was once unfinished is not lost
it is transforming.

These foundations you see are more than the beginning of new jackets…
they are the beginning of new stories.
Stories of restoration.
Of beauty reimagined.
Of creation rising gently from what was cut short.

This is where healing lives
in the making.

SuKaz where the story begins again.

There are moments when creation begins in stillness, in reflection, in feeling, in what quietly asks to be reimagined.

Here, fragments become form. Texture becomes story.

And something new begins.

A quiet unveiling, in progress.

Unboxing, the SuKaz way.

For our collectors, the experience begins long before the jacket is worn.

Each piece is now accompanied by a custom garment bag, handcrafted from vintage Suzani textiles and Kantha hand embroidery, each one as singular as the jacket it holds.

No two are alike. No detail overlooked.

Because true luxury is not only what you wear…
it’s how it is kept, carried, and remembered.

A quiet layer of artistry, created just for you.

Farewell to Midnight Doubles

There are moments in fashion when a piece waits patiently for the woman it was always meant for.

Midnight Doubles our cocktail blazer in luminous navy silk damask, first made her debut beneath the lights of the Paris runway. With her graceful structure, sweeping voluminous sleeves, and the quiet drama of her silhouette, she carried an effortless elegance that commanded attention without ever asking for it.

Her true poetry, however, lies within the sleeves.

Twin art panels created by the mother-daughter artisans of Rail 3 Ranch in Arizona bring this jacket to life, rows of handcrafted leather florets in rich, harmonious tones, each one placed with care like a small garden blooming against the midnight silk.

Many admired her.
Many tried her on.

But the magic, the unmistakable spark, revealed itself only once.

The moment her forever muse slipped her arms into those sculpted sleeves, the story was complete. There was no doubt she had found her home.

So today we bid a fond and bittersweet farewell to Midnight Doubles. She leaves the SuKaz collection knowing she now belongs exactly where she was meant to be, living beautifully in the world with the woman who brings her fully to life.

A Day of Style, Friendship, and Giving

Our recent Sip, See & Serve gathering at Susan’s home was a beautiful reminder that fashion is at its most meaningful when it brings people together for a purpose.

Throughout the day, dear friends and new faces alike arrived by invitation to experience the world of SuKaz in an intimate setting. Guests wandered through Susan’s collection of one-of-a-kind jackets, some seeing these remarkable pieces for the very first time, while longtime collectors discovered treasures they had never encountered before.

But the heart of the day belonged to Clothed by Faith, a charity devoted to restoring dignity by providing carefully selected clothing to individuals and families navigating difficult seasons of life. Guests arrived with generous donations of gently loved garments for men, women, and children, each piece offered with compassion and hope.

It was a joy to watch the rooms fill with conversation, laughter, and the shared understanding that beauty and generosity belong together.

By the end of the day, twelve SuKaz jackets found their forever homes, and through those sales we were honored to contribute towards supporting the mission of Clothed by Faith.

Saying farewell to beloved pieces is always bittersweet, but knowing they now live with extraordinary women, while also helping uplift others in need, makes the moment deeply meaningful.

To every guest who joined us, donated, shopped, and supported this effort, thank you. Your generosity turned a simple gathering into something truly special.

Style with purpose. Community with heart.

Dandelion Flash ☀️

In Paris, beneath the lights, she did not compete for attention, she commanded it.

Dandelion Flash moved like sunlight given form. Fabricated in radiant yellow piqué, her sculptural overcape floated with architectural grace, framing the silhouette in bold, confident symmetry. The clean lines of her high collar and the gentle sweep of her cape sleeves created a presence that felt both modern and regal, strong, yet undeniably feminine.

The custom quilted design by textile artist Sunny Yung gave her surface a quiet depth subtle relief that caught the light with every step. Texture became movement. Structure became poetry.

And then, the romance revealed itself.

Appliquéd vines and flowers, self-fabricated and meticulously applied by Romanian textile artist Corina Matei, climbed delicately along her form a whisper of nature against her luminous strength. At her heart, an original art panel of sculpted silk origami flowers bloomed, dimensional, intentional, alive. Every fold a testament to artistry. Every detail a devotion.

On the runway, she did not simply glow.
She ignited.

And now… she has found her Forever Muse.

A woman as enchanting as the piece itself poised, radiant, unforgettable. Together, they are brilliance multiplied. Between the two of them, there will never be a sunless day.

Farewell, Dandelion Flash.
You were never meant to flicker. You were made to shine.
