Lovely front porch sitting overlooking beautiful Lake Limestone. So fun helping Debbie select fabric to complete their beautiful porch. Bold and so nice. She is most happy, and so is hubby Rick. So much fun to see her creative juices flow, and come together to make her vision a reality.

For me, my mantra is to "make everything beautiful around me, that will be my life". Yeppers, believe that is a done for dang sure. More happy clients.

Unusual Alteration - Long-term sewing customer from Austin area asked me to alter a new awning for her RV. It was too large. She drove it out to me, we measured & determined how much needed to go bye-bye.

A recent rainy Sunday morning, it became my project as I sipped coffee & listened to my chickens crackling & crowing, set up tables in my lil farm house -- brought in Big Bertha to do the sewing.

You see the finished result along with some of the various stages. Packaged it up & mailed it to her. Now the hot Texas heat isn't bearing down quite so hard, giving her some relief. Love this gal, loved doing her project.

Have some mighty fine clients -- and Karen McDaniel is one of the best evah. Sending love sweet girl & enjoyed doing this for you.

Fire Truck Gets New Seats - Chief Paul Miller of the Thornton VFD commissioned us to make new seats for one of his fire trucks. It was formerly a military truck with drab green cloth seats, drivers seat torn very badly, extremely thin backer boards & thin foam. We made new backer boards out of 3/4" plywood, sanded to perfection, then added more dense foam to make them feel like you were sitting on something other than a thin board + was not gonna buckle under pressure. Turned out quite nice and Chief Paul is very happy.

Showcasing 4-Wheeler Seat Recovers- here are 3 of the 7 that we have done recently. All were in various stages of disrepair, some worse than others, some with major foam damage. Been out in the weather too much, too much sun, etc. Many held together with a vast amounts of duck tape. But...the beat goes one & we get them fresh & back looking good. So can be back out there ripping & having fun with them.

Rainy Sunday Project: Fabric Wrapped Bowl.
Used 3/8" cotton clothesline rope, scraps cut in 1-1/4" strips. Start in center making a small circle -- secured nicely with X-cross stitching, then wrap the fabric as you go using a wide zig-zag stitch.

Plenty of tutorials online is you are interested in making one for yourself. Not hard. First roll the rope up in a ball or else you'll want to spend the rest of the day, day-drinking.

Locate some fabrics of similar weight & cut some strips. Any configuration works out nice. Can make trivets, bowls for various, sundry things in whatever room you choose, even waste baskets. Plenty of creative ways to use up scraps in this way.

Kind of out of the ordinary for me, but was fun none-the-less. As I get older & realize the road map 'may be shorter', all kinds of creative things that I 'just gotta do' arrive in my space. Funny how that happens. Hope you enjoy in some small way. I put mine in my little Boho kitchen filled w/potatoes & onions, along with a basket of farm fresh eggs from my beautiful girls.

Upholstery Project: Cushion for Side-by-Side ATV. Made fresh with a new 3/4" plywood board, cut to size, sanded & painted with Kilz & 2 coats of exterior house paint, entire cushion was wrapped in 1/2" upholstery foam, then wrapped in plastic to ensure that it was completely water repellent. Then covered in high-end marine vinyl w/piping along the edge.

Mr. Joe was very happy with it when he picked it up. Think he was surprised that we made it look this good. We were pretty happy that he was so happy. Hats off to my son Austin for providing the muscle to help make this come over the top.

You can see from the 'before' picture, it was a mess. Joe strutted off w/the hardware to put it on & go grab some limbs off his farm property. Was a good Saturday for all.

Insulated, quilted coverall. What is not to like about them. AND if they are all broke in, soft in every way as they have been washed a bunch of times. WITH the exception if they have broken zippers. Then not so much.

This pair is one of many that I have fixed. Had front zipper busted + one of the leg zippers.

Now, I have to tell you, I only do work if it can be stellar quality & last. Cause this kind of work ain't for the faint of heart. I get the zippers custom length from NY that supplies to the military. So they are stout and hold up.

Then the wrestling match begins. Who is gonna win? The coveralls or the girl. Many times, the jury is out. But in this case, I won.

These are a very nice pair of well-seasoned coveralls, ready for this upcoming Artic blast that we will see this weekend. Gonna come in handy for sure.

High-dollar stadium seat. Parents use them all the time to watch their kids at sporting events. This is a big-time winner as it as comfortable as any easy chair ever. Can put on the ground and be comfortable, put on the bleachers -- perfect in every way.

Well almost. The way it is carried (or toted as us Southern country folks say) is with webbing that is sewn in the tiny little seams & fasten w/buckles much like on a dog collar.

There is NO reinforcement and with the weight, they tear out very quickly. So a very poor design for such a nice expensive seat.

I took this baby apart. Installed heavier duty webbing but sewed it down well into the body of the chair, both front and back. Cross-stitched. put twill tape in the seam so every place was double-dog reinforced.

Winner, winner chicken dinner. Now stout as can be, ready for track and baseball and soccer -- just about anything. Even picnics, fishing.

If you have one, let me know. I have IT figured out. Save your bacon as the only other choice is to pitch off $179.99 for a new
one, which will do the very same thing.

Unusual project yesterday. Client has new Beretta 9mm pistol. No holster worked. So I took this one, made a couple internal adjustments, used Big Bertha (that is my commercial machine) to make 2 rows of stitching that were specifically marked, so that pistol would no longer fly out the end. Successful. Client very happy. Big Bertha rode to the rescue.

A little of what I call - Down & Dirty project yesterday. You see, I have 4 standard poodles, a boho/eclectic farmhouse -- 4 of these guys get on the furniture - so there needs to be some kind of protection cause I'm not wanting the chair to need cleaning.

So I took some stash fabric & made a cover for the seat cushion & then a cover for the ottoman. Is it fine sewing? No. It was fast & easy, cause I want something I can easily remove & toss in the washer.

Thus, coined the phrase - Down & Dirty. Great way to freshen up the space, add some unexpected color (in this case, some may say YIKES), but hey, to each his own, eh?

Call me or text me (512-658-0094) or PM here if you have some bright ideas that you'd like put into motion.
