Another happy customer, Mr. Heflin known as “Van Heflin” had several personal connections to the state of Maine, primarily centered around his love for the outdoors. Heflin, described as a “husky outdoorsman” is an avid fisherman and hunter that favors the rugged terrain of Northern Maine. The other photo is of Van Heflin was taken at the Fort Kent Customs building after entering the United States from Canada. As he made his way south he stopped at Pejepscot Purchase and bought his vest. He was on his way back to Hollywood to prepare for his roll in “Airport”, where he plays a crazed bomber on a plane. To stay in shape when he’s not out hunting and fishing, Heflin swims 20 laps a day, rain or shine, at his West Hollywood apartment house.
