Meanwhile, at NAK…

It’s been a busy week around the sewing tables.

Tailored shirts were finished. Needles and thread came out for an afternoon of hand sewing. And a new batch of cross-back aprons made their way into the world.

Different projects. Different experience levels. Different reasons for learning to sew.

Same thing happening over and over again:

people making things they didn’t know they could make.

This is what a week at NAK looks like. ❤️🪡

There’s something wonderfully old-fashioned about a table full of people sewing by hand. 🪡
No machines humming. No racing to finish. Just needles, thread, conversation and a room full of people concentrating on what they’re making.
We spent Sunday afternoon exploring hand sewing at NAK, and watching everyone settle into the rhythm of stitching reminded me why I want to do more of it here.
Hand sewing isn’t just a separate little corner of sewing. It’s part of making clothes. It’s finishing, embellishing, repairing, tailoring, embroidery—and adding those little details that make something unmistakably yours.
So we’re going to keep exploring it.
Thanks to everyone who pulled up a chair and stitched with us. ❤️

October is almost here, and somehow every time I finish one project, another one sneaks in and takes its place. Meanwhile, the projects from last year are still patiently waiting for their turn.

First workshop of 2026!

First Stitch x Stitch: How Sewing Begins workshop of 2026 wasn’t a complete flop 😜 Everyone made some great house booties. Didn’t get pictures of them all because we went two hours overtime and my brain was toast. I loved the creative fabrics everyone chose. Thank you for your patience and kindness. This is the project through the end of February. I should have it perfected in time to move on to the project for spring!
