Having so much fun with my newfound passion, flatbed knitting. Been working on different base patterns that I can use to build more complex patterns. One of my most recent projects is finding a base pattern for the perfect knitted shorts. Follow me in this process as I show how basic shapes can be used to achieve a plethora of different design needs.

I want to give a big thank you toDominique Hysten-Norvell for the opportunity to be part of the Soca Soul Oklahoma Carnival Fashion Showcase. What you’re doing here is important—Oklahoma doesn’t have a strong presence of Caribbean carnival culture, and this show is one of the only spaces where people can connect with it upclose and in a real way.

Being the only other designer featured alongside you was an honor. I appreciated the chance to showcase my prototypes for my crochet swim and poolside line, especially in a space that celebrates creativity, movement, and culture the way carnival does.

Seeing models travel from Arkansas, Chicago, Virginia, and more really shows the reach and respect this event already has. You’re building something meaningful and giving Oklahoma access to a cultural experience they rarely get to see.

Thank you for bringing this to life, and thank you for including me in it.

Quick update on this mesh crochet mash up. Braided ties are giving this masterpiece a very unique flare & the stitch has some stretch to it for comfort fit.
