These are the Halloween Costumes I made for the kids last year. We wanted to increase visibility so I integrated LED lights into both of them.
Andrew is a Skylanders fan so he was Superstar Jet Vac. It has very bright LED stars on the front, and though it doesn't show in this picture, the jet pack lights up with blue light on the back. It's built into a black jumpsuit that zips in the front. The jet pack fastens with snap buckles to make it easier to get in and out of the car. The helmet and mask have glow in the dark accents. It's a boys size 7/8, and takes 3 AA batteries.
Bethany's fairy princess dress and wings are lined with warm white LEDs that blink but we preferred the steady on to the flashing lights. The dress zips up the center back and the wings are a separate piece, also for ease of travel. It is a girl's size 4 and takes 6 AA batteries (3 in each set of lights).
Both costumes are available, and both won first place in 2 different costume competitions for their age categories. Please message me if you're interested.
This year's Halloween costume plans include Invincible Super Mario with multicolored twinkle lights and LED stars, Queen Elsa with bright white LED snowflakes and lights, and Sarah will make her trick-or-treating debut as a Bumble bee with flower shaped LEDs and yellow electroluminescent wire. Will post those as soon as they're finished.
I love costume season!!!

The dance costumes from the Music video I mentioned will be posted soon. Here is a link to the video. I did NOT make the cheesy gold lame' outfit or the roman soldier suit worn by the singer. I did make the others though. Will post pics of those as soon as I can. They are available for sale. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ZIQo9eDnaY

This 2 piece ensemble is inspired by later period High Court Byzantine styles. The over dress is made of a satin brocade with a clerical cross pattern in ivory, white, and gold. The bell sleeves are lined with tone on tone embroidered ivory silk. The trim is adorned with hand sewn crystals and pearl clusters. The under dress is a lightweight brown poly with gold trim. The coolest thing about this dress Is a hidden secret. The dress needed to be form fitted, but the fabric was too fragile for laces. So... There is a hidden zipper underneath the center front trim, and it is secured closed with micro velcro. Micro velcro does not make that awful sound when you move or sit down. The zipper works much like the modern dresses with zippers under the arms. They open to allow you to get them over your bust. I have worn this dress, although I never really intended to. My friends call it "The Angel Dress" because of a series of events that occurred on the day I wore it to a friend's wedding. If you would like to hear the story, I can post it upon request. There is ample room to be let out in the back, but in it's current state, the dress is approximately a size 18/20 in the bust, and 14 in the waist. It can be let out to hang as a straight tunic though if that is what you prefer. I do not have exact measurements of this one yet, but I can get them upon request. Because of the materials cost in this one, I am asking $200.

This is my personal wedding dress. It is based on a 1528 french painting. I included my bridal portrait below to show how it looks on the body. It is 4 pieces (bodice, overskirt, underskirt, and full length chemise.) The drawstring underskirt is a satin jacquard with a pattern of ivory, red, and black. The oversleeves are lined with the same fabric. The chemise is made from vintage 1960s ivory eyelet, has a self bound squared neckline, and full sleeves with ruffled cuff. The red outer layer is silk bengaline (silk threads woven over cotton for strength). The bodice laces up the center back, and the overskirt fastens center front and hangs open to show the underskirt. The eyelets on the bodice are hand bound in red thread. The trim is a sequined ivory, red, and metallic gold peacock and diamond pattern. The sleeves are open across the top, and trimmed with ivory lace and red rhinestones. They fasten at the elbow with a gold clasp, but can be worn either open or closed. The bodice trim is the most beautiful part of this dress. It is made from vintage lattice pearl trim, gold filigree caged pearls, ivory pearl drops, and 1940s Tiffany's lead crystals. The measurements are as follows: Bust 40in, waist 32, hem length 43.5. I have not fully decided to sell this one yet, but if I do, it will most likely be in the $1000 range, though I am open to offers.

The Tudor Barbie Dress. It is Tudor era, 1530s, French inspired. It is cotton candy pink micro corduroy velvet, with wide silver and hot pink trim, over a 2 piece under dress made of screaming pink dupioni silk. 4 pieces total. Bust 44, waist 37-42, and hem length is 42 (all inches). It is lightweight, and cooler for a summer faire. The underskirt has an adjustable elastic waistband. The open slashed sleeves are attached by pink pearls with adjustable elastic in 3 places for a nice blousing effect, and flat french cuffs. It was designed to be worn over corset or hoop/petticoat, but neither are required. Machine washable, but only wash if absolutely necessary.

This is perhaps the most intricate and complex costume I have ever made. It is 4 pieces (bodice, full length chemise, underskirt, and overskirt.) The outer layer is black micro corduroy, that has a bit of stretch to it for a more unique fit. The chemise is red satin with rolled hem edges and ruffled cuffs. The overskirt fastens in the front and hangs open to reveal the satin tapestry underskirt. Far and away, the most fantastic part of this outfit are the sleeves. The are diagonal puff and slash strips fixed together with pearl clusters. It is inspired by a painting of Laudomia De Medici, and I posted it here in the album. There are over 300 handsewn pearls and beads on the whole dress. The bodice laces under the right arm. The measurements are: Bust 43in, waist 35in, hem length 43in. Because of the stretch in the fabric, you can safely add up to 3in to the bust and waist if need be. There is a coordinating mens doublet also listed. I do not require that they be sold as a set, but I will reduce the prices if you want both of them. The doublet's information is listed separately. Because of the enormous amount of labor and hand work in this one, I am asking $350, but I am open to offers. The necklace and earrings are included.

This dress is Turquoise micro corduroy trimmed with ivory and tan rabbit fur. The under dress and belt are made of a turquoise and brown satin tapestry, which matches the trim on the sleeves. It has a high waistline that sits just below the bust. Because of the cut of Burgundian styles, this dress will accommodate sizes 12-24. The belt fastens with 2 trouser hooks in the back, and can be adjusted as needed. The overdress fastens with a trouser hook beneath the belt. The tapestry fabric catches the light in many ways, which is why it appears to be several different colors. This dress was not part of the fashion show and has never been worn. Asking $85

This sea blue velvet dress is made in the 1530s French fashion, and has free flowing strip sleeves which reveal the green, blue and gold tapestry undersleeves which match the underskirt. It is 3 pieces (Bodice, overskirt, and underskirt.) This dress seems to baffle cameras as to its color, but it a more of a muted blue green, rather than gray as it appears in some photos. The cuffs have the same hand beaded pattern as the neckline, and the cuffs lace with gold stretch cord for ease of wear. The underskirt has an a elastic waist, and the overskirt fastens with trouser hooks. The bodice laces under the right arm. The Necklace and earrings are included. The measurements are: Bust 41in, waist 32in, hem length 43. I lent this dress to the local theater for a stage production of Hamlet, and Ophelia was not very kind to it. It has a small tear which has been repaired (visible in pic #16 and 17), and an eyelet was replaced.

This dress is Burgundy micro corduroy with trimmed actual vintage silver mink fur. It has 3 pieces (overdress, underdress, and belt.) - I named it "maroon and Mink" because "Burgundy Burgundian" made me giggle too much. - It has a high waistline and the hand beaded belt sits right below the bust. The overdress fasten with a trouser hook, which is covered by the belt, and the overskirts remain open to show the rose tapestry underdress. The dress has a Duchess style train. The nature of the Burgundian style makes this dress suitable for sizes 12-28, and can even work for maternity if needed. The belt fastens with trouser hooks, and can be taken in or let out accordingly. Underdress is short sleeved to reduce bulk and bunching in the sleeves. Asking $125.

This dress is made in a 1530s French inspired style, and consists of 3 pieces (bodice, overskirt, and underskirt.) The outer layer is a rich rusty colored brown cotton velvet, with wide woven gold trim. The underskirt has an adjustable elastic waist, and is made of a heavy tapestry brocade. The detachable oversleeves are strip style with hand sewn pearls connecting together. The necklace and earrings are included with the dress. The measurements are: Bust 38in, waist 31in, hem length 43.5in. The bodice is 11in tall in the front, and the straps can be let out up to 3in. It laces underneath the left arm.

This dress is inspired by a portrait of Diane De Potiers. It is 4 pieces, (bodice, over skirt, under skirt, and Chemise.) The outer later is black cotton velveteen with a pewter satin inset and beaded metallic silver trim. The turnback sleeves are made of silver and black brocade, as is the matching underskirt. The undersleeves are black satin strip sleeves and the velvet cuffs fasten with a silver button bearing the Tudor rose. The measurements are: skirt waist 36in, hem length 40in. This dress was not treated kindly during my fashion show and I will be repairing the center back lacing panel. I have not done so as of yet as it allows me to adjust the waist and bust of the bodice to fit a new owner. I will happily adjust it upon sale.
