This was a wild find from last weekend, an especially nostalgic find if you grew up listening to American Top 40 every week like most of us did…

Growing up, I never once thought about how radio stations all over the country would get the syndicated countdown show week after week…I mean, why would anyone think about it? You just turned on the radio and there it was! But when I found this at a yard sale on Saturday, it blew my Gen X mind…

So how it worked was, Casey Kasem recorded the show in Hollywood, then it was pressed onto vinyl and shipped out to the radio stations. It also included physical “cue sheets”…they were paper guides showing the exact length of each song, the host’s speaking time, and the dead air seconds. The DJs used these as a guide to insert local commercials into the broadcast.

In the late 80’s and into the 90’s, they switched to higher quality open-reel magnetic tapes and then eventually to CDs…

This upcoming Pittsburgh Vintage Mixer marks our 4th consecutive appearance at this amazing event. Truly, this show has gotten better and better with every passing year…kudos to the PVM organizers and their team for striving for excellence year after year… 😊❤️👏

We had a busy afternoon of updating our spaces at Treasure Trove Fleatique and Antique Mall Ohio River, so we decided we should treat ourselves to a drink at LincolnAvenueBrewery in Bellevue. It’s our first time here, but definitely not the last… 😊🍻

One interesting thing I noticed last weekend at was the return of digital cameras. I saw at least three different attendees taking pictures with actual cameras instead of using their phones.

Coincidentally, I also had a digital camera with me…I’ve been trying to get in the habit of using one again, just for fun…

I’ve also been buying them whenever I find them in good condition, so the next time you see us at a show, we might have some for sale… 😉

It’s a lot of work (and a lot of driving 😆) managing three different vendor spots, but it’s important to diversify and spread out if you can make it happen.

If you think of your business as a table and the table legs are sources of revenue, consider how many legs are holding it up...the more legs you have, the more stable the table. Even if one gets wobbly or breaks completely, the other legs will keep the table upright and level.

Right now, our “table legs” consist of three vendor spots, two Etsy shops, and a schedule of in-person vintage vendor events that goes to the end of the year.

In between managing all of those, we’re always looking for other ideas, other events, any other legs that we can put under our table…
