đTLDR; Now seeking formalwear donations for the 2026 Night to Shine at First Baptist Church Valdosta! đ
A little over a year ago, I bought a big batch of costume inventory from Bouncinâ Balloons as they wrapped up 30 years of serving our area. Mixed in were a handful of formal dresses and suitsâpieces that deserved more than just gathering dust in storage.
Right after Halloween, I spotted a post about âNight to Shineâ and realized those dresses and suits could make a real difference for attendees who might not have the means to buy something new. So I reached out to our community for donations, and many of you came through in the best way. Together, we built up a collection for shopping day at First Baptist Churchâenough to help many guests find that perfect dress, suit, or jacket.
But honestly? We were still caught off guard by the turnout. SO many wonderful folks showed up, and while lots left with new outfits and a smile, it broke my heart that we didnât have enough for everyone to have their special moment.
Since then, the word has spread. Iâve had the chance to provide prom dresses to young women across South Georgiaânot because I advertise (or profit), but simply because itâs a privilege to help when the need arises.
So this year, I want to do even better. To be clear: these donations are not for my business, which isnât open this year, and none are sold or rented out for profit. Every single item donated is used only for Night to Shine attendeesâor, when word of mouth brings another young person in need my way, Iâm grateful to pass along your generosity.
Weâre collecting all sizes of gently used formal and semi-formal dresses, suits, shirts, ties, and shoes for the 2026 Night to Shine. If your closet is empty but your heart wants to help, consider a purchase at a local thrift store, or make a donation and weâll do the shopping for you!
Drop-offs are welcome at Your Way Moving & Storage Solutions, 4484 Valnorth Drive, MondayâFriday, 9amâ3pm. If you need an alternate spot, text 229.921.8960 for a Gornto Road drop-off location.
