I am Michele, the owner of the boutique and I have a few things to tell you about. The name Monroe Still has a few hidden meanings that create an identity for the boutique. First, "Monroe" comes from the county in which I was born and raised. After moving two and a half hours away from home, I quickly realized just how lucky I was to be from such a great place. For those of you that are not famili

ar with Monroe County, IL, it is a county located just across the river from St. The towns within the county are on the smaller scale and they are known for farming, friendly people, great bar scenes, and a rich German heritage. German heritage brings me to the next hidden meaning, "Still", which is German for style. No, I won't be selling lederhosen, but I do want to share with you, the many styles one might see around the county on any given day. Monroe County styles are so diverse in the way that you could see someone in their jeans and boots from working out in the fields. A few hours later you could see them again in their little black dress and heals, ready for a night out in St. Pop-up shopping events are available for Monroe County and White County only. Scheduling is minimal, as I do have a full time job. Parties can be booked for private events at homes or desired venues. Events like "Girls Night In" or "Shop and Sip" are perfect for a relaxing night of shopping in the comfort of your own home. When space is available Monroe Stil will also host public pop-up shopping events. Event information will be sent out through Facebook, email, and text.

Our Story

Hey everyone! Welcome to Monroe Stil's page!

My name is Michele, and I started this boutique in March of 2017. I have always wanted to own my own boutique, as I have a huge love for fashion and helping people feel and look their best. In coming up with a plan, I hit one HUGE road block - a brick and mortar store is NOT in my budget! With pop-up stores becoming more and more popular, I decided that was the route I would go. From there I started setting up at local vendor events and hosting shopping parties of my own. Everything was working out great and I could not believe I had gotten this business off the ground.

Fast forward to 2019. I was still working a full time job during the week and setting up the boutique on the weekends. After a while I became exhausted, as there is a TON more work involved than one may think. I slowly started participating in fewer vendor events and my own parties became nonexistent. This was the END of Monroe Stil.

It’s March 2020, and I’m writing this new about section, so obviously I didn’t give up my dream. If it weren’t for my friend Ashley Sauer Buskirk 😘 stepping in to keep pushing me, I would have thrown in the towel. Whether it’s getting up at 5 am on a Saturday for a workout or offering to invest in my business, Ashley has always been a great motivator.
