Can we stop for a minute and give this girl a ✋?!
This weekend I saw pictures of myself that other people had taken, and there were moments I genuinely didn’t recognize the woman I was looking at.
Yesterday, one of the ladies at the event told me, “You need to pat yourself on the back more. Celebrate every pound you lose.”
I told her, “Oh, I celebrate EVERY OUNCE!” 😂
She looked at me and said, “As you should!”
And she’s right.
Because this journey has given me so much more than pounds lost.
Bougie Brim was built through this journey.
What started as a way to raise money to change my health became a business. That business became an outlet for my creativity. It became opportunities, friendships, events, connections and a way for me to use the gift God gave me in ways I never could have imagined when I started.
And somewhere in the middle of building all of that… I was rebuilding me too.
That's what I noticed when I looked at this picture.
My posture.
I’m standing taller.
And goodness, if that doesn't represent this entire journey. ❤️
There have been hard days, plateaus, pain, setbacks and plenty of moments when the finish line felt incredibly far away. But there have also been ounces, pounds, sizes, victories, opportunities and dreams becoming real right in front of me.
So no, I'm not waiting until I reach some magic number to celebrate myself.
I celebrate EVERY ounce. Every victory. Every step. Every new opportunity.
Because I'm not just watching my body change.
I'm watching the life I fought for unfold.
And one of the most beautiful parts?
The little business I started to help save my life has become a huge part of the life I'm building. 🩵
So yes… ✋ girl, give yourself that high five.
We’ve come a LONG way.
And we aren't done yet.
