I’ve been pretty quiet recently due to a shift in my work schedule, but I wanted to share these dolls with you! Made with cotton and local alpaca fiber, they are a healthy and sustainable alternative to your average plastic doll.

I hope that everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day! I’ve been busy crafting more critters for markets (like these cotton unicorns filled with local wool🦄), but today I will finally be tending to my garden! 🌱

A basket full of baby bunnies! Made of linen and stuffed with 100% alpaca fiber, these babies are made of good stuff inside and out. I buy raw fleece (alpaca and sheep), from local farmers and triple wash, dry and hand card the fiber before stuffing my toys. It’s a lot of work, but very rewarding! I am happy to have access to local fiber. When customers support me, they also support our local farmers! 🌈

We are gearing up for our first outdoor market tomorrow! Swing by Ridgefield’s Spring Festival, the first of this season’s First Saturdays for live music, family activities and many lovely local vendors! We will be loaded up with our sustainable handmade stuffies and hardwood figurines!

These guys are all sanded up and ready for paint, but I have to say, the grain of this maple is so beautiful it’s almost a shame to cover it! I’ve got lots of critters, wooden and stuffed, getting ready for upcoming markets! We are super excited to start offering these to our community. ❤️❤️❤️

Welcome to True Heart Toys! Our family has learned so much over the past several years about the benefits of living a more natural lifestyle. While a lot of focus goes toward eating a healthy diet and cutting out household chemicals, one element of “green” living that is often overlooked are the materials we use in our homes. Blankets, rugs, furniture, clothing and- yes- toys!

Cheaply-made plastic toys not only pollute the earth, but also negatively impact our bodies. Some wonderful steps to take to improve the health of people and the planet are to decrease/eliminate our support of fast fashion and mass-produced plastic toys and choose to support local makers that prioritize using eco-friendly and non-toxic materials.

As a mother and artist, making toys for our daughter has brought me great joy and has become a passion. This is where True Heart Toys is born! I only use natural fibers and source them locally whenever possible. I appreciate any support and feedback! I’d be delighted to get this project off of the ground and share the joy of natural fiber toys. ❤️
