Raven's Rascals

Raven's Rascals Raven's Rascals believes in giving back. To that end, 100% of the proceeds from sales will be donated to local charities and groups.

I have a passion for helping others. I have a passion for crochet. Raven's Rascals is the combination of the two. For years, I made items solely to fundraise for the American Cancer Society via our family's Relay for Life team. But, we, as a family, have decided to "spread the love" so to speak and also contribute to other organizations. We continue to donate to the American Cancer Society, but ha

ve expanded our giving back to include our local high school theater group, choirs and orchestras. We've had several family members and friends fight the battle with cancer so the ACS cause is still very near and dear to our hearts. Our other charitable focus is the Skyview Theater Club, choirs and orchestras. The kids work hard and produce outstanding plays and concerts with the above and beyond dedication and vision of their directors. To continue the excellence, they need funds. When you make a purchase from us, you will now have the choice of which organization the proceeds from your purchase go to support. We appreciate each and every one of you and look forward to giving back to the community with your continued support!

Been quite a while and WOW hit 500+ likes! Hi all! So, what have I been up to? Not much in the way of yarny fun, I'm afraid. But lots of other fun remodeling projects have been happening! Those projects will be happening through the summer, but I hope to get back to my yarn soon. I'm going through withdrawals!! Now, I have it easy in the winter knowing what to make. I mean, cowls are my favorite items to make, but they're just not summer friendly. What kinds of summer friendly items would you like to see? I'm thinking of some yarny necklaces. Hope the past few months have been well for you all!

Hi everyone! Busy keeping up with the kiddos. And speaking of those kiddos, our youngest, almost 9, has informed me we should be helping the homeless. So, we did a little research and found a local charity that does just that. Starting soon, we'll be adding the option of choosing to "give back" to Share Vancouver (http://sharevancouver.org/). We also recently heard about our school district's foundation which helps our students and their families in many ways. Foundation for Vancouver Public Schools (http://foundationforvps.org/) will also be added to the "give back" choices. I'm excited that my children are looking for ways to give back to others that have less than they do! It's one of the reasons I love doing what I'm doing! :)

Share envisions a community without hunger, where all people have safe and adequate housing and the skills to enhance their quality of life.

The 2014 Skyview Blanket is finished and sent on its way to join the annual silent auction to raise money for Skyview's Choirs and Orchestras. Today, I'm working on a special request by my 8yo...penguin mittens. :)

Does anyone else suffer from not wanting to complete a project if it takes longer than a few days to do? Get sidetracked like me into doing a completely new project just because it won't take so long? Yep, that happened today. I practiced my knitting skills (there's not much yet) and made this cowl based on Claire's cowl from the show Outlander. It was also adorable on my 8yo as a shoulder warmer. I'm thinking of making some for the shop. I know they're everywhere now, but it was so much fun to make I feel I need some justification for making more. Well, maybe...after I finish up a few of those multiple day projects. :)

Whew! Just finished updating and organizing the photo albums. Hopefully they're more fun and it's easier to find what you'd like to see. Back to work! :)

One more week of rest for the appendectomy! I'm looking forward to working out again! In the meantime, I'm taking this mandatory break from my regular routine to learn some new techniques. I participated in a crochet a long and made a rhino lovey. He's tiny with the blanket measuring about 12" square. I also practiced broomstick lace a little more and learned hairpin lace. Lot's of fun expanding my abilities! (pics from left to right: broomstick lace infinity scarf, rhino lovey, hairpin lace infinity scarf)

Currently working on a tunisian blanket to be donated to Skyview Choir and Orchestra's annual silent auction. Last year's blanket was raffled and made over $300! Hope this year's does better! :)

I've finished September with a bang! :) Ok, it was an emergency appendectomy, but I still rocked it! If you're going to do something, do it with gusto! Anyway, I'm well on the way to recovery, the craft room has been cleaned for the season and so I can state with certainty that on Monday, the shop will be back open!!!!! :)

While on vacation I entered a few items into our County Fair. Picked them up at the end of the fair yesterday. It's so much fun, I can't believe I didn't start showing at the fair until last year! I encourage everyone to try and enter something into your local fair. If it's anything like ours, there are categories for everything you could imagine and then some. :) *P.S. - Gimli helmet will not be recreated by me. I love him, but not again (won't say never, because you never know. lol). Should someone really like him and want one, I can send you to another creator who would love your business, I'm sure! :)

Ok, after an exciting trip to the beach (we hit an elk on the way home, no worries everyone in the vehicle walked away without a scratch or even sore muscles, but no mini van for a bit) and counting the other plans for August, I'll continue to be on vacation until September! Looking forward to getting back at it, but will enjoy this next month with the family to the max!

Yep, said new products soon, but alas, summer vacation is just super busy with all 4 kiddos home. So decided why fight it, shop is on vacation through July and possibly August. Will let you know when we're reopened. :)

Shop is empty and it's been empty longer than I had planned. Came down with a head cold and it's been raining so product pics have not been taken. Should be sunny tomorrow, I have my photographer on standby and I should be on the downward side of this cold so look for new products soon! Thanks for your patience! :)
