tiger owl designs focuses on creating original clothing that engages its wearer with community and the environment. all of our creations are hand printed in our yurt using 100% eco-friendly water-based inks. summer kemick (owner) is a ventura native who studied art in new york city. she finds inspiration from our beautiful earth and continues to search for ways to better her art and lower her carb

on footprint. wes dalton (co-founder) is a ventura musician involved in the local music scene. he enjoys hiking, biking, surfing, skating and everything else awesome that california has to offer.

A customer came in with some well-loved Carhartt’s and wanted to funk them up a bit. He liked the idea of the railroad stripe patch to cover a big rip across the top of the knee patch so we went with it. Above the other knee patch the fabric was getting very thin and we knew it was going to rip through soon so we lined both legs and threw some reinforcing stitches, then added the patch to the left leg. Some interior patches in the crotch and thinning butt area along with some reinforcing stitches will give lots of extra life out of these worn-in beauts.

Join us for an Embroidery workshop at Municipal Winemakers on Sunday Sept 6 from 1-3pm! We will be focusing on single color line work, no experience necessary, just bring a garment you want to add a fun design to! We will bring a variety of simple designs or if you have something in mind, please bring an image of it in the size you would like. The perfect beach pants but honestly, perfect all year long pants. Each pair is hand block printed with a wood block I made myself with a jigsaw and a steady hand. 🐚

Today we finished our week-long kids camp where campers dyed, cut and sewed their own pants! Carley was my trusty co-teacher and I couldn’t have done it without her! The kids learned about patterns, seam allowance, backstitching, and so much more. We talked about how clothing projects can be complicated, but so rewarding to finish, and we all did our fair share of seam ripping 😅 Everyone did such a great job and left wearing their new pants! 👖

I’ve been offline. If you know me, you know I need an annual break to tune out and be outside. So that means not posting, not promoting my business, trying my best to take a true mental break, which is always a little scary especially when there’s good momentum, but it always works out somehow. This year we went from mountains 🏔️ to sea 🌊 and now I’m feeling ready to get back to the studio! Grateful for this little reset and all the water adventures. See you at the studio! 🧵 🪡
