Super interestingly enough, snakeskin patterns have been a symbol of power, mystique, and sensuality for centuries. The motif traces its origins to ancient cultures, where snake imagery was often associated with transformation, rebirth, and protection. In some Indigenous and African traditions, snakes were revered for their connection to the divine and the natural world, with their patterned skins symbolizing beauty and strength.

The use of actual snakeskin in fashion became popular in the early 20th century, for accessories like shoes, handbags, and belts. By the 1960s and 70s, the snakeskin print emerged as a more accessible and cruelty-free alternative, capturing the texture and allure of the real thing while allowing for greater experimentation in color and design. 🐍
