๐Ÿ RACE RECAP | A NIGHT FULL OF IMPROVEMENT ๐Ÿ

Last night might not have ended with a trophy, but this was one of those nights where the finishing position doesnโ€™t tell the whole story. ๐Ÿ’™

And honestly, one of Daltynโ€™s biggest accomplishments happened off the stopwatch.

All season weโ€™ve been working with him on learning how to explain what heโ€™s feeling in the kart โ€” not just โ€œitโ€™s goodโ€ or โ€œitโ€™s bad,โ€ but actually having a conversation with us about what the kart is doing and where itโ€™s doing it.

It started clicking. ๐Ÿ‘

We made some pretty big changes before Practice 1. Daltyn came in and told us the kart felt loose through the corners, so Dad went to work and tightened it up just a bit.

Practice 2?

Completely different kart. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Daltyn immediately said it felt way better, and we could SEE it. He was pulling on karts that he has struggled to keep pace with throughout the season.

That alone had us excited heading into the heat.

Daltyn started P1 and held onto the lead for most of the race. With about three laps to go, things got crowded, a three-wide battle through the corner shuffled the order, and he brought it home P4.

That put the #48 P14 for the feature.

And once again, we saw progress.

He was making good moves, finding speed and getting quicker as the laps clicked off. A caution around halfway changed the complexion of the race when the field was restarted single file rather than double file. Starting that deep in the field, the stretched-out restart definitely made gaining ground considerably harder.

But Daltyn kept digging.

He continued finding speed, kept fighting for positions and crossed the line P13. ๐Ÿ

P14 โ†’ P13 may not look huge on paper.

But last night was MUCH bigger than one position.

We watched a young driver begin to understand how his feedback translates into adjustments. We watched Dad make a change based on that feedback and Daltyn immediately feel the difference. And we watched the #48 run with karts weโ€™ve been chasing all season.

That is progress. ๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™ve spent a lot of this season searching.

Last night it felt like Daltyn, Dad and the #48 started speaking the same language. ๐Ÿ”ง๐Ÿ

And this one had a little extra meaningโ€ฆ

This race was for Gโ€™ma. ๐Ÿ’™

No trophy needed to make us proud of this one.

P4 Heat | P14 โ†’ P13 Feature | A whole lot learned.

Onward, #48. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ ITโ€™S RACE DAY! ๐Ÿ

Back to Stafford Motor Speedway tonight with Wild Thing Karts, and after Mother Nature cut last week short, weโ€™re ready to FINALLY get back to racing! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ”ฅ

For Daltyn and the #48 Jr. Outlaw, tonight is a regular race night โ€” but weโ€™re heading into it feeling pretty darn excited. Last week we made some BIG changes and finally found that combination weโ€™ve been chasing all season: a comfortable kart with SPEED. ๐Ÿ‘€

Unfortunately, the rain showed up before we got the chance to see what we had in the feature.

So tonightโ€ฆ we pick up where we left off. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ

Thereโ€™s also a little unfinished business on the schedule! The Sr. Outlaw Twin 15 was cut short by last weekโ€™s rain, so theyโ€™ll be completing that program tonight along with the regular racing action. ๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŽ๏ธ Practice โ€” 5:30 PM
๐Ÿ Heats โ€” 6:15 PM
๐Ÿ”ฅ Features to follow

Canโ€™t make it to Stafford? Tune in and catch the action LIVE on FloRacing!

And as always, we couldnโ€™t do this without the people who keep the #48 rolling: Andresen Electrical Services, Precision Motor Coach, Lather & Rinse Salon, Meineke Car Care Center of West Hartford, Grandpa Joe Racing, Speedway Sign & Graphics, and Riley Generators. ๐Ÿ’™

Huge thanks as well to Rory West at ProKart, Jim Houghton at 99 Fabrication, Harte Collision, Wild Thing Karts and Stafford Motor Speedway for everything they do for our program.

Last week we found something. Tonight we get to see what we can do with it. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿ“š FIRST DAY! ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ’

And just like thatโ€ฆ somehow we have TWO middle schoolers. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Today Daltyn starts 8th grade โ€” his last first day of middle school. ๐Ÿฅน Meanwhile, Deacon is heading in for 6th grade and his very first day of middle school!

One is basically a middle school veteran at this point, and the other is walking in for the first timeโ€ฆ which Iโ€™m sure means Daltyn will be an incredibly helpful and loving big brother who shows Deacon the ropes and absolutely does NOT pretend he doesnโ€™t know him in the hallway. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Itโ€™s crazy how quickly we went from walking little boys into elementary school to watching these two head off to middle school together.

๐Ÿ’™ Daltyn โ€” 8th Grade
๐Ÿ Last first day of middle school

๐Ÿ’™ Deacon โ€” 6th Grade
๐Ÿ€ First EVER day of middle school

Two very different kids. Two very different adventures ahead. And one mom wondering exactly WHEN THE HECK THEY GOT THIS BIG. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‚

Have the BEST first day, boys! Hereโ€™s to a great school year, new adventures, good friends, lots of laughs, and hopefully keeping the calls home to a minimum. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคฃ

8th + 6th gradeโ€ฆ here we go! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ“š

๐Ÿ RACE RECAP | #48 RIVERS PERFORMANCE MOTORSPORTS ๐Ÿ

Wellโ€ฆ tonight was a little bit of racing, wrenching, chaos, progress, and Mother Nature all rolled into one. ๐Ÿ˜‚

We got our motor back from Rory West at ProKart just in time for first practice, but immediately found a stuck float that had fuel pouring out. So instead of hitting the track, the whole #48 made a quick trip over to Rory to get everything sorted out. ๐Ÿ”ง

With that fixed, we made some big changes to the kart and were rip-roaring and ready for Practice 2. Daltyn came off saying the kart felt GOOD โ€” finally comfortable โ€” but he was still running out of speed. A few more adjustments and it was time to line up P2 for the heat.

And that heat was WILD. ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Seven karts and absolutely nobody willing to give an inch. They were stacked on top of each other, going four and even five wide through the turns. The finish was so close and chaotic we literally had to check timing and scoring to figure out where everyone landed. ๐Ÿ˜‚

But the biggest takeaway had nothing to do with the finishing position:

We finally found what weโ€™ve been looking for all season. ๐Ÿ’™

Daltyn had a comfortable kart underneath him AND speed to work with. He even said there were a few times he knew he had more, but chose to back out rather than get tangled up in the four-wide chaos. Smart racing โ€” especially when you finally have a kart you want to bring home in one piece!

We rolled back into the pits feeling pretty darn good and started getting the #48 ready for the featureโ€ฆ and apparently the racing gods decided that was enough excitement for one Monday. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚

The sky opened up.

The Wild Thing Karts crew gave it everything they had trying to dry the track, but with the cooler temperatures and darkness already setting in, Mother Nature won this one and the rest of the night had to be called.

It may have been a short night, but after everything weโ€™ve been chasing this season, weโ€™re leaving this one encouraged. We found something tonight. ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ”ฅ

Next week weโ€™re back at Stafford Motor Speedway and ready to see what the #48 can do!

A huge thank you to everyone who keeps this program rolling:

๐Ÿ’™ Andresen Electrical Services
๐Ÿ’™ Precision Motor Coach
๐Ÿ’™ Lather & Rinse Salon
๐Ÿ’™ Meineke Car Care Center of West Hartford
๐Ÿ’™ Grandpa Joe Racing
๐Ÿ’™ Speedway Sign & Graphics
๐Ÿ’™ Riley Generators

And a special thank you to Rory West at ProKart for getting our motor back to us and jumping right in tonight when we needed help getting that fuel issue sorted.

Thank you as always to Wild Thing Karts, Stafford Motor Speedway, Jim Houghton at 99 Fabrication, Harte Collision, and everyone who continues to help and support Daltyn and Rivers Performance Motorsports.

Short night. BIG progress. See you next Monday. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™

๐Ÿ POMFRET RECAP | FIRST OUTLAW SERIES RACE ๐Ÿ

Wellโ€ฆ Pomfret gave the #48 team a bit of a rough introduction today. ๐Ÿ˜…

From the beginning, we knew something just wasnโ€™t right. No matter what we tried, we could not figure out why the motor simply wasnโ€™t making the power it should. The RPMs were jumping all over the place, and Daltyn just couldnโ€™t get the power out of it that he needed.

But he kept digging.

Daltyn started P6 in his heat and finished P6, which lined him up P6 for the feature.

Even without the power he needed, he kept wheeling it and managed to bring the #48 home P5 in our very first Outlaw Series feature! ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’™

Not exactly the debut we envisioned, but considering we spent the day fighting a motor that just wasnโ€™t happy, weโ€™ll take a top-five finish and head home with something to build on.

Now the big question is why. ๐Ÿค” Weโ€™re not sure if something was injured during the roll a few weeks ago or if this has been developing over time, but we decided she needed professional help. ๐Ÿ˜‚

So the motor went home with Rory West at ProKart for a little quality time with the motor doctor. ๐Ÿฉบ๐Ÿ”ง Hopefully Rory can diagnose whatโ€™s going on and get the horsepower back where it belongs!

We also want to give a HUGE thank you to Jordan Hardwick for all of the guidance and help today. Days like this can get frustrating quickly, especially when youโ€™re at a new track trying to chase down a problem you canโ€™t seem to solve. Having someone willing to step in, share their knowledge and help us troubleshoot meant more than you probably realize.

One of the best parts of this sport continues to be the relationships we build along the way. The Rivers Performance Motorsports team is incredibly grateful for the people in the racing community who are willing to lend a hand, share what they know and help each other get better. ๐Ÿ’™

Our first Pomfret adventure may not have gone exactly according to plan, but Daltyn still brought home a P5, we learned a lot, met some great people and the #48 is coming home in one piece.

Weโ€™ll call that a win. ๐Ÿ

Nowโ€ฆ Rory, the patient is all yours. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ”ง

๐Ÿ POMFRET BOUND! ๐Ÿ

Tomorrow the #48 team is heading somewhere new! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’™

Weโ€™re making our first trip to Pomfret Speedway for Daltynโ€™s first Outlaw Series race, and to say heโ€™s excited would be an understatement!

But firstโ€ฆ a little extra seat time. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Today Daltyn hit Pioneer Valley Indoor Karting and started the day clicking off some of his fastest laps yet. Apparently that wasnโ€™t good enough for him, because he just kept getting faster. ๐Ÿ˜‚

By the end of the day, he dropped his personal best all the way down to a 19.773! ๐Ÿ”ฅ

After everything the last few weeks have thrown at himโ€”the roll, the rebuild, getting back behind the wheel and finding his confidence againโ€”it was pretty awesome watching him spend today doing exactly what he loves: driving, learning and finding more speed.

Tomorrow brings a whole new adventure.

๐Ÿ New track
๐Ÿ First Outlaw Series race
๐Ÿ Rebuilt #48
๐Ÿ One VERY excited driver

Weโ€™re going into Pomfret ready to learn, have some fun and see what Daltyn and the #48 can do!

Pomfret Speedwayโ€ฆ here comes the #48! ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ
