The big pickerel were active yesterday!

Got out on the pond for a couple hours this afternoon and the sizable pickeral were on the hunt.

Got on some Black Fridee SLABS out there today. Switched it up and fished a jighead under a slip bobber and it made all the difference. I am so thankful to have a crappie-filled lake just a few houses down.

To think I used to stop fishing in October. November has been good to me so far! All on the Mr. Crappie Fin Spin pink jighead with a Bobby Garland baby shad, Pearl colored.

Found a few crappies and pickerel hiding in open water. Also found a few chins hiding under my beard! We’ll work on that. Anyway, great day to be out on the water! Keep on Scummi!

Got on some crappies out there today! We caught many more than are pictured. Battled the wind, but it was well worth it. I even stumbled upon a really nice perch. They were hungry for the “bleeding shad.” Keep on scummin!

Took my galleon for a spin this afternoon. I managed to run into a few fish, but they were few and far between, as expected with this heat. I lost a behemoth pickerel that will haunt my dreams tonight! But as my pops used to say…”that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching.” I’ll settle for no skunk any day! I’ve dreamt of catching a halibut since I was a wee lad and today it happened! I’m exhausted, sore, and most importantly, my spirit is content. Alaska is everything I dreamt it could be. What an amazing day.

I took to the water yesterday and caught this beautiful perch within a few minutes, leading me to believe it would be a great day filled with many fish. I was wrong and this was all I caught. As my pops used to say….”that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching!” Happy Sunday, Scumbags!
