His episodes are getting scary, he was in alot of pain and throwing up but this is the second time there's been blood and it was spraying.. it was absolute terror
Please keep him in your thoughts, we just want him to be a kid ❤️

For individuals with G6PD (Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase) deficiency, avoiding specific foods, substances, and medications that can trigger hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells) is crucial. Here is a list of top 10 foods and things to avoid:

Foods to Avoid

1. Fava Beans

Fava beans (broad beans) contain compounds that can cause severe hemolytic anemia in G6PD-deficient individuals.

2. Red Wine and Sulfites

Some red wines contain sulfites, which can be harmful.

3. Blueberries

Contain natural compounds that may trigger oxidative stress.

4. Soy Products

Soy milk, tofu, and other soy-based products can have adverse effects for some individuals with G6PD deficiency.

5. Legumes

Besides fava beans, other legumes like lentils, chickpeas, and black beans may need to be consumed with caution.

6. Artificial Food Coloring (e.g., Blue 1, Yellow 5)

Some artificial dyes and preservatives may cause oxidative stress.

7. Menthol and Peppermint

Found in some candies, gums, and teas; can act as triggers for sensitive individuals.

8. Processed Foods with Additives

Foods containing ascorbic acid, nitrates, or nitrites may pose risks.

9. Bitter Melon

Known to have compounds that can exacerbate oxidative stress.

10. Quinoline-containing Foods or Supplements

Foods or supplements containing quinine derivatives (e.g., tonic water with quinine) should be avoided.

---

Non-Food Triggers to Avoid

1. Certain Medications
Examples include aspirin, sulfonamides, dapsone, and some antimalarial drugs.

2. Naphthalene
Found in mothballs and some air fresheners.

3. Infections
Viral and bacterial infections can exacerbate hemolysis.

4. Chemicals in Laundry Detergents
Avoid detergents with strong oxidizing agents.

5. Henna
Used for skin or hair dye, it may cause oxidative stress.

6. Vitamin C (in Excessive Doses)
Large doses may act as an oxidant.

7. Glucose-6-Phosphate-containing Products
Found in certain supplements or foods.

8. Pollutants and Smoke
Cigarette smoke and other environmental toxins may contribute to oxidative stress.

9. Prolonged Exposure to Extreme Stress
Physical or emotional stress can exacerbate the condition.

10. High-Dose Iron or Iron-Rich Foods
Excessive iron can promote oxidative stress
