Here are the 5 things they did NOT tell me when I first started my business.
1) It's going to cost more than you think. Nobody warned me about the hidden costs- shipping, packaging fees, returns. It adds up fast.
But I overcame it. I got strategic, I cut what didn't serve me, and I reinvested where it mattered.
2) People will doubt you, including the people you love. Not everyone will clap for you in the beginning. Some will question if its worth it.
But I overcame it. I stopped seeking validation and started letting my results do the talking.
3) Marketing is a full time job in itself. I thought the product would sell itself. It doesn't. Getting eyes on your brand takes constant effort.
But I overcame it. I showed up, I learned, I stayed consistent- even when it felt invisible.
4) Slow seasons will test your faith. There will be weeks where the sales are quiet and the self-doubt gets loud.
But I overcame it. It gave me time to build, to plan, and to prepare for the breakthrough that was coming.
5) It's harder AND more rewarding than you can imagine! No one fully prepares you for the emotional roller-coaster of building something from nothing.
But I overcame it. Every obstacle made me sharper. Every setback made me stronger.
If you are in the thick of it, keep going. You've got what it takes!
