I felt sure there had to be some sort of awful mistake when I got the test results a few years ago. I had no family history of breast cancer. I was young(ish) and healthy. And I was already walking through an incredibly hard season that was making life feel impossibly heavy.

I kept thinking about that statement everyone loves to throw out in times like these: “God won’t give you more than you can handle.” But that’s not actually in the Bible.

God didn’t cause my cancer. But He was allowing it. And He sometimes will allow more and more.

The world is filled with people who are dealt more than they can handle. And, surprisingly, so is the Bible.

The Apostle Paul wrote: “We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead” (2 Corinthians 1:8-9, NIV).

No, God doesn’t expect us to “handle” everything we’re facing. He wants us to hand it over to Him.

You see, we’re all living out a story, but then there’s the story we tell ourselves. We just need to make sure we’re telling ourselves the right story. Yes, God will give us more than we can handle. But He always has eventual good in mind.

So now let me tell the story of the events in my life using God’s goodness as the central theme. Because I had a mammogram at the exact time an appointment was available, the doctors caught a cancer early on that needed to be caught. And because they caught a cancer that needed to be caught, I had every fighting chance to beat this cancer. And to God be the glory that I am now cancer free.

Sweet friends,
What a ride it has been…Grit N Grace Boutique has been an incredible blessing and has forged friendships and growth within me I wouldn’t have had without it. It has provided for our family and ministered to many women right when they needed it including ministering to me. Last year as most of you know was quite a year for our family with the death of my Dad, mom’s diagnosis of Alzheimer’s, selling their home and many many other tough moments. The Lord has provided an incredible opportunity in my career to work full time as Director of Marketing and it truly is an incredible position. I love it every day, combining my love for agriculture, leadership and marketing. It is no doubt the Lord’s provision and exactly where I need to be. If you’ve ever owned a full time business, you know the time, hard work and dedication it takes to run it and run it well. After a lot of prayer and discussion with my mentors and husband, I have decided to take a break from the Boutique and live sales. I am thankful I have the opportunity to make this decision on my own terms and not because I have to. I’m not sure what the plan is for the FB group of incredible women - but I’d love to keep it in tact because the Lord built it and the prayer requests keep coming. My entrepreneurial spirit remains in high gear which I am sure will serve my family again in the future, but releasing this dream allows me to serve my marriage, my family, my church and my friends in ways I haven’t in the past few years…

We will definitely continue prayer requests and encouragement in the FB group!

In the few months she’s been alive, my baby girl has already experienced my faithfulness to respond to her needs, to comfort her when she cries and to protect her from harm. Even while being held by a stranger in a new environment, she could persevere because she knew her mama was with her and she is convinced her mama is good.

In the same way, I wonder if Mary, the mother of Jesus, was able to trust God because she could recall His faithfulness in her life. She said, “the Mighty One has done great things for me …” (Luke 1:49, NIV). Perhaps as a result of her experiences of His faithfulness, she knew God was with her and was convinced her God was good, and that gave her all the courage she needed to persevere in the midst of incredible uncertainty.

Throughout the Bible, God calls His people over and over again to remember His faithfulness in their lives. And it’s no wonder — because we are so prone to forget! I am so prone to forget.

But when uncertainty causes us to doubt, may we be women who pause to remember the goodness of God in our lives; who draw strength from His Word; and who remain steadfast in Immanuel, God with us, who always has been and always will be on our side.

If you seek Me with all your heart, you will find Me.

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deuteronomy 4:29

We live in a demanding time. We’re busy. Busy with work, family, church and more. Our phones are always on. And consequently, so are our minds.
And somewhere in between all those activities, we also want to make time for God. But how often do we have to admit that not much came from our good intentions, when we’re lying in our beds at night?

God is good. God is love. God is great. And do you know why? Because He always waits for you. With an unending amount of patience. Because no matter what you’ve done, no matter how you feel, or what your life looks like at this moment, God waits until you come to Him.

We can’t see God. And yet, we will find Him, this verse promises us. “But how?” you might be wondering.
It starts with the desire to find Him, of course. Are you truly seeking your Creator? Do you want a relationship with Him, and do you allow Him to lead you, every day?
He wants to be a part of every moment of your life. He doesn’t want just a part of you, He wants all of you! He wants you to be in an intimate relationship with Him.

So let this text encourage you today. And know that God is always there for you!
What an amazing thing to know!
He loves you!!

Prayer: Thank You for so much love and patience.
I want to follow You my entire life! Amen!

The story of Grit N’ Grace Boutique continues to be shared…My personal testimony of His goodness and joy in the midst of suffering…No matter the storm…keep your eyes on Him. He is good and He is for us despite our circumstances. Thank you to my cousin, and the women’s ministry team for the invitation and for the opportunity to share what God has done!!
