I knew the day would come when these windows would have to be changed, but I didn't realize how much it would hurt to see them go.
A few days ago, two people walked up to the boutique and almost didn't come inside. Later, they told me it was because they saw the crosses and were afraid we might not agree on everything. But they came in anyway. They asked questions.
And what started as a simple conversation turned into something I'll never forget. We talked for a long time after closing. Not about politics. Not about religion. We talked about Jesus.
As they were leaving, one of them looked at me and said, "I don't know how to explain it, but it's like there was this weight... and now it's gone." I don't think I'll ever forget those words. That's why these windows mattered.
Not because they were pretty. Not because they got attention. Not because they made a statement. They mattered because they opened a door. A door for a conversation that may have never happened otherwise. A door for someone to experience the peace, freedom, and love that can only come from Jesus.
If you ever wonder why I play Christian music in the store. Why I keep Bibles on display. Why my faith is woven into everything I do.
The answer is simple: Because Jesus changed my life, and I can never be quiet about that.
This boutique has always been about more than clothes, more than sales, and more than business. If God can use painted crosses on a window to bring someone through a door and into a conversation about Him, then every brushstroke was worth it.
The windows may be coming down, but the mission isn't. I'll keep playing the music. I'll keep displaying the Bibles. I'll keep talking about Jesus when He opens the door. Because He told us to go.
If even one person leaves a little lighter than they came in, then it was all worth it. 🫶🏻
