I understand that the alteration may cost more than the original garment, and that can be surprising.

Alteration pricing is based on the skilled labor and time required to take a garment apart, reshape it to fit your body, and reconstruct it professionally. Each item is handled individually and often involves multiple steps, fittings, and specialized equipment.

Mass-produced clothing is manufactured in factories designed to produce thousands of garments efficiently, often with significantly lower labor costs. It is also important to note that most-mass produced clothing is not intended to be taken apart and altered. Alterations are custom work performed one garment at a time by a trained professional in a small business with operating expenses such as equipment, maintenance, insurance, and years of expertise.

You are always welcome to decide whether the garment is worth altering. My pricing reflects the true cost of quality custom work, and I stand behind it.

The OCL prom dress giveaway is here!

If you need a dress for prom or a dance then stop by one of the following Ocean County Library branches to look through our collection of FREE dresses!

Do you or someone you know have a new or lightly used gown or formal dress? The Ocean County Library invites you to help students experience the magic of prom night by donating your dresses during our 2026 Prom Dress Collection, running Friday, January 2 to Thursday, February 26.

The collection precedes the annual Prom Dress Giveaway, which will begin in early March. Donations will be given free of charge to students in grades 8 through 12, regardless of financial circumstances.

You can bring your donation(s) to any of the Ocean County Library’s 21 branches or reading centers. Short and long styles within the past five years are especially sought. Donors are asked to contribute dry cleaned items ready for prom wear. No accessories, shoes, or purses can be accepted.

Day 11: Piney Products
I was lucky enough to transform a vintage wedding gown for my client Lauren's wedding earlier this year. In her spare time she likes to make natural bath and body products using locally sourced herbs and extracts. She doesn't have a social media account, but she does have a website where you can shop.
