For any of you still following Marilyn's, I wanted to give you this good news. Alexis Bittar, the actual human being connected to this name and who named his business after himself (like ME), had sold his namesake and has recently bought it back and again designs and heads "Alexis Bittar", the business, once more! https://www.alexisbittar.com/pages/about
About 2016:
Bittar and TSG Consumer Partners sell the brand to Carolee LLC, the jewelry arm of the American heritage brand Brooks Brothers.
Alexis then leaves the brand to focus on raising his children and pursue his philanthropic interests.
2020: After a 5 year absence, Alexis Bittar reacquires the brand after Brooks Brothers files for bankruptcy.
2021: Alexis Bittar relaunches his namesake brand as a lifestyle brand with expanded product categories including accessories and home décor.
I am personally thrilled about his return.
I remember the first time I happened upon his booth at the NY Gift Show at the Javits Center in NYC in 1992 and was blown away by his collection. I continued to carry his line until the day I closed my own doors to Marilyn's on College Street in Burlington, VT in 2017.
Have fun once again searching the new beauty that is the iconic brand of Alexis Bittar!
I am intrigued by his Memphis inspired houseware designs, having long been a small collector and big fan. He had always had a love of antique jewelry, so check out this section and be drawn in to the jewelry of ages passed.
Welcome home, Alexis. Love, Marilyn Gaul
